As good as I feel Soraka is, the requirement that your team has some idea of what to do with her if the reason she's so bad in soloQ I think. Everytime I pick her we do at least 0K in lane, and decent in skirmishes, but then in teamfights one or more people feel like turning the fight into a 4v5 and dive super deep inside the enemy team, meaning either I stay clear and don't contribute anything, or I come in, heal maybe twice, then die because I'm in range of everyone.
Then you had long range champions like Xerath, Varus or Azir who screw you up from too far for you to contribute, or Riven who just mashes his keyboard to dash through half a screen instantly then explodes you because you're so squishy. Dunno if I wanna pick her again, even if I enjoy playing aggressively with her. Champions needing particular comps against them to do well are a thing, but if you add the need for your team to be able to play with it to do decently, it piles on quite a bit.

just rush mobo boots and speed items or tank items so you cant get caught evre and stay with 5 pots in inventory poke champs can neve hit you because you move too fast

Well, you dont even have to trade a summoner spell. You either get "LOL YOUR FACE IS SHOVED IN" autop waveclear with Trailblazer, or a combat summoner in Skirmishers / Stalkers.
Arguably, I'd say Trailblazer is actually the most obnoxious to lane against. Laning against Ezreal with no creeps is hard. lool.
That being said, they are all wicked good on Ezreal, the slow for the LOL outplays and easy skillshots, Skirmishers because nerfing someones damage output by 20% is awesomely OP in 1v1s and Ez Q procs the true damage, and again, laning against Ezreal without a creep wave is hard.

Which is more or less the conclusion I'd reached, but it's still annoying to tell people 5 times a game to not run too far away and they still dive like I'm Shen instead of something. :<
I've had the same issue with Braum because people won't stay in W range for me to get away with them after they get caught and I move in to save. It has less range than Safeguard or Shunpo (and his model is bigger) and people are clearly not as used to do it with an allied Braum than Lee, even after it happens twice and I tell them.

Tank is so bad on Soraka, which is why she's ultra-niche unless your team knows wtf is up and your team disengages properly. All she can do is disengage, turn a fight if she has ult, and siege decently. (Same reason she's broken on ARAM)

That being said, Warmogs is godlike on her.
Makes her sieging so stupid. Dat regen. Only champ i'd buy that item on.

if you have yasuo ad reksai no way they're getting near you anyway its relaly not hard to run in heal and dodge anything with mobos wtf
if theres an assassin running in you silence him and if its a tank he cant kill you anyway you are probably positioning wrong like if you are in the back that literally have to push past your whole team to kill you including ap and ad carry so yea dont get caught

The heal is 550 range. In other words, if someone is hitting Ryze, you can't heal him without entering Ryze's range. In one of these games it was an Annie support building full AP for example, she'd initiate on someone, I'd Crucible, drop E and go back while healing, but my team woudl go in and fight. So I'd walk toward someone to heal him from max range, and Annie would casually walk up, fire a Q, and someone else would 3-shot me using the stun duration to get in range.
"Dodge stuff wiith mobis" doesn't wok against AoE, nor against teammates going too deep, which was my point "teammate makes me useless because he goes too hard". That's like trying to initiate 5v5 if your team somehow has Teemo and Shaco for example, you don't just try to run down the enemy team, there's a way to go about fighting.

How tanky do you build her Alaric? The Soraka's I've played against, who has been doing really good, has always went Warmogs after Sightstone then into nothing but items with resists - they are really hard to blow up, a Soraka alive is better than a Soraka with squishy utility items I suppose.
|
I try a bunch of CDR, with early mp5 to help spam Q in lane (I don't trade, I just harass people to death from level 1 basically, I put 2 points in W then max Q, although realistically I should just level Q up to 4 then max W since that's a bit around when laning ends/loosens up. (Sightstone -> Talisman -> Crucible basically, and I tend to upgrade boots super late, I don't roam that much since I play stuff like Braum so I don't make good use of mobis when I try them.)
So yeah I die fast once caught, I rely more on kiting people and Q's healing, but if my team doesn't feel like spacing stuff and dives super hard then it won't work.
|
Roka doesn't need CDR she needs to be alive in order to to heal. CDR is nice since it means more silences but that is the only really big advantage.
So Warmogs, frozen heart, spirit visage and 5 potions are your core items. Merc treads if they have lots of CC, ninja tabi if they don't.

Runeglaive is 0.75 AD +0.3 AP in an AOE? For 1000 gold less?
And also gives him AOE waveclear, and infinite mana in mid lane by letting him Q over the wraith wall to regain mana and trailblazer smite, so he doesn't have to buy Tear at all?
That's broken as fuck holy shit.
At this point every time they come up with a new Sheen item or jungle item, they need to specifically check whether or not it breaks Ezreal, since this is what like the third or fourth time. I think it just makes AP ezreal viable, not broken. His early game is still shit and he will get pushed around by any sort of assassin as well as any champion that has a longer range. He still has next to no waveclear early. The runeglaive itself is pretty weak waveclear (like 80 damage aoe per q) so you're still going to be taking a lot of time to waveclear until you have enough ap. Worse still you can't bring exhaust any more, so if your enemy picks zed or leblanc you are going to die. In an ideal situation you wouldn't pick RG, Smite AP Ezreal into an assassin, you'd probably pick it into another poke style champion (Xerath, Kog'Maw, Jayce, etc.). If you did pick him and they lane swap in an assassin you can always go red smite instead to get the pseudo-exhaust on that Smite buff. I'd be curious to see the 2 item timing damage of Runeglaive into Luden's Echo on this Smite AP Ezreal. It's 2250 + 3100 gold, which honestly isn't that hard to get with good CSing, like you probably get close to that much around the level 11 mark, just in time for a siege composition to really kick it into high gear. And assuming you get blue buff you can spam your Qs pretty often and would apply the Runeglaive's conversion of Q into AP damage, the Sheen proc, AND the Luden's Echo proc all at once, and the Luden's would probably get re-stacked quickly as well with walking around and Q spamming when you aren't looking to hit a champion or clear a wave. That is something else I had not considered. Runeglaive procs spell effects so you can now proc ludens Echo on your q.

If you're not abusing Q's heal in every fight and playing/building around ult, you shouldn't have picked Soraka. If they can burst you, you a) probably shouldn't have picked Soraka, b) need Hourglass

How can Warmog be a core item? The higher your max HP the more expensive your heal is. It's not clear if that's good.

Warmog's regen doesn't really justify it, yeah. If I want tankiness and more healing, I'd rather get a modicum of health, then resists and CDR to up Q's value.
And what does "play/build around ult" mean? CDR/AP? You can't "play around ult" because it's soloQ and random people will get caught even if you want to ult versus an AoE-oriented comp.
When I mean CDR, I mean for Q primarily (and also E/R), certainly not for W since you get enough with points in the ability.

People try to justify it with the regen. The problem is in a siege, the regen is easily poked off, and the 80 (!) increased health cost on heal is painful everywhere else. The passive is also no better if you have more health because more heal cost.

I mean building CDR/AP, yeah. And of course, I mean theorycrafting. Fuck soloq, though even in soloq, I think you're honestly better off with CDR/AP, maybe more bruiser-oriented if you've got a short range team.
CDR/AP increase survivability, damage and utility. The scaling health cost was specifically to prevent her being a facetanking healbot. Heavy-handed, but true.

Yeah. If the concern is to get better heals, I am almost 100% certain building AP is better.

The concern is not to get better heals, its to survive in order to get heals.

Yeah btw I tested RG Ezreal vs lichbane at 4/5/6 item and RG does more/equivalent damage even to single targets in almost all situations.
.2 ratio is much worse than the conversion/spell procs and AOE, plus the cost and CDR
I also think the trailblazer could be the best smite for RG ezreal. It allows you to instaclear waves, sustain massively. Challenging and chilling are ok but only useful in rare occasions, trailblazer is great every time its off CD and I think it may be on the whole more beneficial.
