I guess that's a pretty good point. In most normal sports your being coached your entire career while in lol you aren't coached ever. not saying I agree with that thinking but I can see the point
That's normal for AP Ez though Runeglaive for mid Ez is just an earlier but weaker Lichbane with tiny AoE clear
you're missing the 2 bigger points. firstly it gives him stupid amounts of mana regen. secondly it makes his Q magic damage unlike lich bane thus it can now proc ludens echo

Go do some calcs on how much damage a Lichbane Q and a RGlaiveQ does after void staff.
Lichbane does .75 BASE AD +.5 AP. RG does .75 BASE AD + .3 AP. I don't need to do a calc, Lichbane always does more damage because it has the same base and higher scaling. The advantage of RG is that its cheap, has CDR, has wave clear, and potentially lets you regain your mana by shooting monsters.

Gahlo is suggesting that the magic damage conversion, post void-staff, is a larger increase in damage than an extra 0.2 AP ratio. This is for a few reasons including MPen vs no ArPen, lower MR values overall, and activating luden's echo.

Yeah. Most of the strength of RG is in the laning phase but the video doesn't really showcase anything new with RG. He didnt even have Ludens + dont think there were any scenarios where he got a Q off but not W
RG definitely helps out AP Ez but I don't think its enough to be considered OP

but that's exactly the whole thing that's wrong with it. AP ez has always been a monster lategame. runeglaive makes his early/mid game SO much better that it enables him to quickly cross that peak. riot has already mentioned that they are looking specifically at this interaction and whether or not the mid game impact is big enough to warrant nerfs or removal

I guess so but he's still not as annoying as Varus/Kog
The .2 ratio is a small chunk off AP Ez's damage lategame, and it requires a summoner spell, so, seems like a fine tradeoff. If there's anything at all, which I doubt, it'll probably something Ez-specific on W.

That likely is true. I missed the part about the magic damage conversion.
Ok, so r/LoL is pretty bad most of the time, but I do like one of the comments someone made in one of the threads. Spoilered for those who haven't seen TL vs. CLG from earlier today:
I think the idea of runeglaive ezreal is that you already have way more than enough damage if only you got your AP, and runeglaive smooths over that period in the game where you don't have much ap and need to waveclear.

You can pinpoint the exact moment when CLG tilts for the rest of the season. If that 1v4 isn't the play of the week I don't know what is.
I like how the "amazing" 1v4 play while surrounded at 20% hp was just him pressing 3 abilities and everyone dies because of how stupidly broken azir is
he was getting 1v4 tower dived at the tower he made himself LOL

not only that but clg's decision to dive was so incredibly retarded.Find it kinda sad how much hype a play like this gets tbh.
Runeglaive is 0.75 AD +0.3 AP in an AOE? For 1000 gold less?
And also gives him AOE waveclear, and infinite mana in mid lane by letting him Q over the wraith wall to regain mana and trailblazer smite, so he doesn't have to buy Tear at all?
That's broken as fuck holy shit.
At this point every time they come up with a new Sheen item or jungle item, they need to specifically check whether or not it breaks Ezreal, since this is what like the third or fourth time.

I think it just makes AP ezreal viable, not broken. His early game is still shit and he will get pushed around by any sort of assassin as well as any champion that has a longer range. He still has next to no waveclear early. The runeglaive itself is pretty weak waveclear (like 80 damage aoe per q) so you're still going to be taking a lot of time to waveclear until you have enough ap. Worse still you can't bring exhaust any more, so if your enemy picks zed or leblanc you are going to die.

In an ideal situation you wouldn't pick RG, Smite AP Ezreal into an assassin, you'd probably pick it into another poke style champion (Xerath, Kog'Maw, Jayce, etc.). If you did pick him and they lane swap in an assassin you can always go red smite instead to get the pseudo-exhaust on that Smite buff.
I'd be curious to see the 2 item timing damage of Runeglaive into Luden's Echo on this Smite AP Ezreal. It's 2250 + 3100 gold, which honestly isn't that hard to get with good CSing, like you probably get close to that much around the level 11 mark, just in time for a siege composition to really kick it into high gear. And assuming you get blue buff you can spam your Qs pretty often and would apply the Runeglaive's conversion of Q into AP damage, the Sheen proc, AND the Luden's Echo proc all at once, and the Luden's would probably get re-stacked quickly as well with walking around and Q spamming when you aren't looking to hit a champion or clear a wave.
