r/lol, despite what everyone thinks, isn't a democracy. The mods can do, and ban, whoever they want. People who don't give a shit can continue to visit r/lol as normal. Conversely, people who disagree with the ban can seek their League of Legends content elsewhere, and not visit r/lol. But because people like creating drama instead of just doing whatever they agree most with, we end up with everyone flinging poo around the monkey cage. Personally, I fall on the "not giving a shit" side of things, but I can understand why some people think it sets a pretty dangerous precedent. IMO tho, Lewis brought this on himself through his inability to not act like a spoiled child and get in comment fights with random internet strangers.

I disagree. r/lol is not the content creator, merely the content aggregator. You can find all of the content that appears on /r/lol straight from the source. Is it less convenient than using the sub? Absolutely, but to claim that /r/lol is too large for people to seek content elsewhere is ludicrous.

The subreddit gets 10 million pageviews a day and 10 million uniques a month. The popular opinion on Reddit can drive the actions of content creators, teams, and even Riot. Obviously people can seek content elsewhere, but that's not the issue. Content that does well on Reddit is 10 times more successful than content that gets promoted elsewhere.

Are you saying we as the community deserve a popular and completely democratic platform for LoL content?

Its like saying if you were a local restaurant and Yelp and Urbanspoon took you off their sites it wouldn't hurt both you and the consumer.

If it hits an enemy within X range of Jinx, the splash damage it deals hits everything but turrets, nexus, and inhibs (ie., splash damage hits allies).

With such advice, you can get 1000 upvotes on r/leagueoflegends probably.

Its like saying if you were a local restaurant and Yelp and Urbanspoon took you off their sites it wouldn't hurt both you, and the consumer. My point is that it's silly to bitch about it on /r/lol and assume change will happen, which a large section of the community is currently doing. To use your analogy, it would be like posting nasty reviews about Yelp, on Yelp, after your restaurant was removed. If everyone who's currently bitching about the situation (especially the famous ones like Thorin, Carmac, Kelsey Moser, etc.) actually wanted something to change, there are actions they can take. They could support /r/riotfreelol or any of the other protest subs that have sprung up, or they could discourage people sharing their content to /r/lol. They won't, though, because as Cheep said, it's easier to bitch and hope change happens. Cheep's post is actually very good, and I think it's on the minds of most people who are upset about this situation. Unfortunately, that makes it kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
