Being abusive and an asshole should be looked down upon, regardless of whether you're online or IRL and regardless whether you're surrounded by assholes or not.

Why stop at flaming and being an asshole? Is stealing from people online acceptable?

That's part of the game mechanics when you play, e.g., TF2.
Being toxic is not part of the game.
Anyway, that screenshot does not show anything, so no one knows what he actually said. I was joking about posting on reddit to stir up shitstorms. But if the alegations are true it's definitely not acceptable.

Exactly. I have it in my own work contract that anything involving my name online is 100% grounds for scrutiny and WILL result in investigation/warnings/dismissal immediately. Why? Because i have clients and have certain standards to uphold for them and my company and cannot simply roll around using my real name doing questionable shit when our clients could see it and it will reflect badly on all of us.
Same shit with this. Riot has a very strong anti-flaming / toxic policy. Employees should NOT be allowed to act like that, they are expected to uphold the companies beliefs and set an example. Especially when using a RIOT branded name in their own game where all these rules are enforced.
Thats the worst thing here, he (supposedly) did it in league of legends with a riot name. If that isn't shitting in your own bed then i don't know what is. It's not like he was found out to be the biggest raging dickbag in CSGO using 420mlgpr0XxX as a nickname, that could probably be understood, it was under his professional, public name lol.
Either way, its not really THAT big a deal.

By the way. Leaving/AFKing is much worse than flaming. Its possible to ignore someone who is being an asshole, mute them, or just write them off. Its impossible for a leaver to not negatively impact your experience.
The whole scenario is not why Jeff should be disciplined, it just shows why the entire punishment scheme is idiotic.

Also, if its your game you need to be held to a much higher standard. Getting someone fired from McDonalds for raging in LoL is silly, getting someone from McDonalds fired for raging at customers at McDonalds is a different story. Thing is, Jeff Jew is literally one of the original Rioters. He is the guy that invented the Yordle race and designed all yordles of the first 40. He also helped design most other original 40s. They won't do shit. They will ignore you and let your little outrage blow over. They just don't care.
You're probably right about that. Someone that influential at a company isn't likely to face any serious consequences for ragequitting in their game even though they punish players for the same behavior. I wonder what he was thinking when he just left us 5v4 though, that made me a bit upset since I've always had better experiences with Riot employees. The vast majority go above and beyond to make the atmosphere positive. The "worst" experience prior was just Rioters being any other player and not saying anything which is also totally fine in my book.

I'm fine now, was a bit pissed right after though. Neo said he was talking to Jeff about it. I'm sure it will be appropriately handled. One of the good things about our little corner of the world is that we have a few inside tracks to Riot.

Dunno why you would use your official Riot account to play for fun. You don't want that attention or the responsibility when trying to relax.

I know bitching at his support and straight up going AFK is pretty unacceptable stuff, but I actually empathize with the guy a bit in this specific instance. Regardless of how toxic the players in a game are, I fucking hate it when people won't surrender a lost game on the straight up bullshit hope that you might turn the snowball around and come back. (And no, that doesn't mean it's acceptable to AFK or rage just because you're trapped in a game, it just makes it easier to understand the reaction)
I wish the players in NA were more like the Korean Queue: "20 minutes and we're 10k gold behind? Fuck it, on to the next one!" But instead you get 2 people that insist on prolonging the torture because "We just have to defend and come back" while the other team refuses to end the game because they're having a blast fucking SLAUGHTERING the game.
It really sucks getting trapped in lost games for that extra 10-20 minutes and it's no wonder some people on losing streaks get so negative. You only have to lose three games and you're likely to have had up to an hour of your time simply WASTED by people that refuse to accept when a game should be over.

should he have acted that way? no.
is it worth getting upset about? no.
also, without screengrabs of what he said you have nothing to post about in a public setting (ie reddit).
what Nemireck posted is true too. when i surrender i dont necessarily think a comeback is impossible. i just dont want to play with the people on my team anymore, for whatever reason that may be. having those fucking imbeciles who are like 'never surrender' is obnoxious. its even more frustrating when the people who wont surrender are the ones who fed in the first place.

I'd also prefer if teams would be more willing to surrender down so much, but if they don't you can't just leave the game. I saw the writing on the wall in that game, I voted yes but it was still turned down. After how many times I've stuck in losing games with a team refusing to surrender seeing that guy just up and leave was like O_o
|
I don't have a problem playing out games that my team is getting stomped if my allies are decent human beings. But when people are being assholes or crying in the chat I want to surrender. I have even started votes for surrender in games were I know that we still had a very reasonable chance to win just cuz I disliked my team so much I'd rather lose then play with them. Case and point I played a normal game to warm up yesterday and had a lee sin jungle started afk rage farming his jungle in a game were we had 2 inhibs at 25 mins after trying to close out the game in 4v5's they started to come back I started a surrender vote and the second time it passed with only the lee sin voting no.
|
you cant just leave the game? lol, yes you can. he didnt want to play with your team anymore. probably for a reason. without screens you have no proof of what happened, and honestly, your attitude is ridiculous. he doesnt owe you anything, and working at riot doesnt instantly turn off basic human emotion/reaction.
i played with a riot'er a few weeks ago. this person was probably a woman (based on the name, i dont know who they were). the way this person was treated by the other people in the game was cringeworthy at best, downright nasty at worst. i would assume game after game is like that for him/her. im sure playing on a riot account is an exercise in patience for them all.
