Alright, we're going to call it a day with all the Thorin drama, guys. I figured if it was about SI, onGamers, TSM, etc, it had some relevance to League but somehow you guys managed to devolve the discussion into an issue about race of all things.
Enough is enough. Let's move along now.

Bronze players tend to not have dedicated coaches.

if your going toplane in soloq should you be running tp? or is it one of those it depends things?

TP is good on most top laners.

Now that it seems like every support item gives mana regen and CDR, I guess I'll have to stop building athene's/morello on Karma. Gonna cost over 2k more gold to hit 40% CDR now though, which sucks. Unless ardent censer turns out to suck, in which case maybe frost queen + mikael's + lucidity boots will be best. Might try out these masteries if that's the case http://leaguecraft.com/masteries/104010300013000000000000000000000000000023031130011100100

Isn't Champions Summer starting soon, like this week?

I pretty much always buy Lucidity on Lulu. Something like Sightstone (I start ruby+2 health+1 mana pots most of the time, just because I like to go balls to the wall from level 1) -> coin -> chalice -> boots1, complete crucible or talisman depending on needs, be liberal with pinks, and lucidity when I can afford them (something before crucible if I finish Talisman and we particularly need the cleanse).
I didn't do that last game though. Because we were against a triple AP comp. Morde top, Xerath mid, Ezreal bot (with Thresh). I only realised it when I went to harass Ezreal at level 1 (Lulu by herself tends to shit on that duo, and I had a Lucian with me), ate almost 100 HP from one spell, clicked on him, and noticed the dring and 50 AP. What. Turns out Ezreal goes from shitty laner to nightmare at early levels when he goes AP and skills W, even if we shoved them it's hard to get good harass off when he has a passe-through, fast skillshot with big damage. x')
Oh. We had a Veigar mid. He had fun. He managed to outplay Ezreal twice (once barely, flashed a Q into a bush to buy the 2s for his Q to come back up, was beautiful), the third time he just walked up to him, DFG-Q-R. Screw Arcane Shift when you don't need skillshots to kill I guess.

This is going to be a really meaningful Summer. SKTT1K, Najin Shield, Samusung Blue, and Ozone are all basically guaranteed to make the playoff for the last Korean spot, but if any of those make the finals they are likely to be able to get an automatic slot, and you really dont want to go to the playoff with 2 of those teams + KTB, Blaze, or some other streaking team like the Arrows, Frost, etc.

Basically, what you're providing for anyone when you coach them is insight. This manifests itself differently at different levels of play. With bronze players, you're giving them insight into stuff like identifying advantages that come from basic things like last hitting, buying wards, not dying, and calculating risk vs reward. At the top levels, the players are all (generally) strategically and mechanically sound and your coaching will focus more on keeping them on their A game and improving their B and C game so that when they're not dominating, at least they're playing near the skill level that they play at when they're in top form. Dyrus is a prime example of a player who has a good B and C game. Even when he's not crushing or playing at his best, you rarely see him make mistakes simply because he's losing or behind. His B and C games are very solid. This is unlike someone like Doublelift, whose A game is one of the best in the world hands down--but his B and C games are extremely inconsistent, and he has trouble shifting gears. You notice this because even when he's behind he sometimes attempts highly risky plays which, although they have the potential (lol) to equalize or pay out huge, often end up with him simply jumping into multiple members of the opposing team and giving away a kill.
I would say that effective coaching starts with grasping where the biggest mental gap is between "ideal" play and execution, and then bringing that to their conscious awareness while motivating them to correct or improve it. For silver and gold players, a lot of this time this comes from straight up getting them to admit that right now, they belong where they're at. For someone to drastically change, they have to first accept themselves as they are. Kinda counterintuitive, but it's true.
At the very top level, you want to have both a coach and a strategist (or multiple of each) because the two things are not the same. Coaches direct players to change, while strategists devise plans and tactics to provide their teams with tools and advantages.
Honestly though if you're coaching anyone the most effective way to do it is to get them to identify their own areas for improvement so they can work on it themselves. It's about maneuvering around their defense mechanisms (denial, rationalization, intellectualization, projection, etc.) and validating their feelings while simultaneously providing motivation, incentives, and rewards for them to overcome their personal issues.
Some people can do this for themselves, while others need more work. I fall into the latter category because I'm used to winning and being right a lot. That's why some of my best teachers have been the ones who have been like DAMN 5HIT U SUCK LOL (Locodoco, Ezpz, Milo, etc.), but it's important to have a balance because otherwise you just crush their ego and they aren't motivated to improve.

I mean the skill is called Ambush not "Run Away and Hide".
Also, did they not decrease the cost of Athene's? I remember the good old days when Twitch stealth lasted like 50 seconds, and he'd pop out of his stealth with like 150% attack speed from Q/Ult and shit on everyone
