That should hardly be surprising because that's been their open stance since Zileas wrote that big post about why they'll never do interwoven bans/picks.

Fundamentally, Riot doesn't see champion select as "part of the game" but as an external element leading into the actual game. It's sort of funny how this is enforced even on a basic UI level, since the draft is done in-client, outside the game.

Also of note is that the "Mastery" and "Counterplay" sections are contradictory to one another. The mastery section more or less says that you have to be proficient in all aspects of the game in order to progress as a player--that you should not be able to neglect one aspect of your play and still progress. Conversely, the counterplay section says that you should have to consistently outplay your opponent to win the game--which, turned around, means your opponent should not lose the game due to lack of proficiency in one particular aspect (e.g. a bad draft, weak laning, etc.).

Those are fundamentally contradictory, because if non-proficiency in one aspect of the game should not be game-losing, that conversely means that it's possible to progress by neglecting that aspect of the game if you are exceptionally proficient in other aspects of the game. The two aspects of Riot's stated philosophy are essentially at odds with one another.

In my recent games I either carry hard or feed hard, there is no middle ground. One game I go 10/3 next game I go 0/6. Maybe I need to learn how to play from behind

zileas was actually a pretty good bw player and iirc lived in korea for a while. Kinda surprising to see riot's "philosophy," especially the small changes part as it's pretty opposed to what BW was.

I don't think its thought through very much as a cohesive design philosophy and is instead a bunch of words to keep the community happy.

I'd rather think they didn't have an actually cohesive philosophy (and Riot Games are a bunch of differing individuals, not a singular entity) rather than intentionally spewing bullshit, but at this point its become pretty hard to tell.

I remember watching the finals with Agent 911 vs Zileas for the BW beta tourney.

Zileas wins three straight, Agent911 almost pulls off the reversal with 3 wins in a row, but Zileas squeezes out game 7. Play not as refined as later BW tourneys, but perhaps the first defining series of the game. Just as epic as MMA vs DRG in the Blizzard Cup.

As expected, I gifted myself 5 skins, got 5 champions that I don't play.

Nunu Bot is nice, but sigh, he is so bad right now (yes I know he got played professionally, but I don't see any evidence that even remotely suggests he is a good soloQ champion).

Why didn't I just use the money to gift myself Eternum Nocturne lololol.

But oh well, it was a gamble anyway... and maybe one day Nunu will be FotM again and I can show off his awesome taunt :D

I have a smurf called The Yeti Does it All from the days when Nunu was super OP and could top, jungle, support and even mid. Those were the days.

Actually, looking at those 5 champs it's kind of funny thinking that every single one has gone through one or two patches where they were insanely strong or FOTM (gj Riot). But now only Morgana and Jax see any real play.

I just realized that Lucian is exactly MF but the mobile version

Q: targeted pass though trading nuke

E: Lucian: you move /MF: they slow

R: Lucian: aoe barrage while moving/ MF: AOE barrage while still

Then the passives and W are just switched up, both in total giving an AS steroid and speed boost. Lucian gets Ms when he hits enemy, MF gets MS when enemy doesn't hit her.

they are about as different as possible. lucian does consistent high damage with mobility. MF in teamfights is just press R pretty much lol

Lucian is really just Corki with a less fun ult (IMO slightly worse as well), but slightly better basic spells.

I'm a huge advocate of E-max MF with dual pen and sorc shoes

Like, at level 5 Make it Rain does like 300 damage and slows by 65%, which is more than nunu ice ball or ulti
