Like I find their analysis of Bengi to be rather convenient , they constantly rip fans who said that Bengi was a big part of Faker's success, saying he just hard carried the team on his own, yet they both say Bengi had a terrible season in spring, while Faker is still on form. Isn't the premise that Faker would have carried reguardless of how Bengi played a contradiction of this?
and they literally make fun of people for giving Bengi any credit for their success
did Monte say this or was it just Thoorin? Because I find most of the time Thoorin says some super inane shit and then tries to get Monte or guest to weigh in on his opinion.
I like Kobe because he lets a lot of things slip that the other casters try to hold back when on air and it's hilarious. He also knows what he's talking about, and although Monte's pure analysis is 'better' Kobe is a lot more entertaining to listen to for me.

I don't remember the game but the time in the NA playoffs when he said "THAT TELEPORT SUCKED!" was the best
I dont monte ever said that faker "hard carrier the team on his own", if that was what you meant, Slusher.
Some people were saying that faker was only looking like a god cause bengi+faker would beat any other jungle+mid combo. Now bengi is playing a lot worse (or maybe the meta changes just dont fit him, dunno), and faker still looks like a beast.
It's just that SKT without their support and jungler playing to the same level as worlds/ogn winter can not compete at the top levels in korea. No matter how good faker is, he can't solo carry every single game (even if he does sometime almost singlehandedly win them games).
Tbh they didn't look too bad with casper, the return of mandu turned bot lane into a 1v3 that took piglet's will to live because mandu would either get caught or force awful fights over and over. Even prime's bot lane and jungle can take a shit on bengi and mandu atm the slumps are hilariously real, they're just fortunate that prime optimus is a rookie team because they would have lost that NLB series if they didn't fuck up at baron.

I miss him so.
I wish Wombat still casted, he was one of my favorite casters tbh. Got into an ARAM with him once and he spent the entire time saying dumb shit and trolling it was so fun. then he added me to friends to :0
Oh yeah Wombat. Biggest disappointment of the new TSM invitational for me personally: no Wombat to greet us with his soothing voice and mellow temperament.
Most of the time, the better team wins not because of any issues that that can be solved by more knowledge, which is the assumption that gives analysts credibility, but because of experience, mechanics, etc, things that need to be built up through practice and intuition. Pure knowledge, or analysis, only has value when both teams are equal in all other areas, which is very very rarely the case. Thus analysts and everyone who believes in analysts overestimate the impact that pure knowledge has on results.
A lot of Monte's analysis is kind of only skin deep? I think Cheep made a pretty good post about how a lot of what Monte says can be summarized as "if player_x just played that perfectly they would have won the fight", whereas people like Jatt, Kobe, Deficio, and to a lesser extend Phreak can tell you more in depth about why or how things happen because they actually play the game at a relatively high level. Monte's not a bad caster by any means but I don't think he should be THE authority figure of all things league.

I guess this is my problem, and it feels like this is quickly becoming the case with the general community. If I'm wrong thats cool with me.
Nah it's pretty much correct that monte is outspoken enough and reasonably correct often enough that people identify him as the go to guy for analysis, it's a mixture of he's one of the first really public analysts if you will and that he doesn't really get opposed by anyone like you never see pros or jatt/kobe/deficio really call him out on mistakes so the general community makes the assumption that he's correct.
I just want to close on the SKT T1 thing by saying anyone who watched Judgement Day in Spring 2013 knows that Faker was the best midlaner in the league from his first day in it. But it was his Team, not Faker himself, improving from that point that made them into the back to back to back (counting worlds) champions that they were. Not trying to take anything away from Faker but I just feel like those two try to slight the living daylights out of his team for winning those titles.
Meh, Monte is pretty smart and knows how to work a crowd, so yeah he has a lot of power withing the League community. As long as he doesn't do too much stupid stuff I don´t see him losing it. The way the community works is that even if he is wrong about analysis or something like that it doesn't really matter he just has to not cast drunk (or only once) and he's pretty much fine.

It's kind of funny because SKT has sort of regressed to their early state of Faker and friends once again
My problem is that people are calling Monte overrated but not offering anyone better except for Jatt, Kobe and Deficio. In case of casting it's fine, it's all about personal taste I guess. In case of tweets and hosting shows - no one else does as much in that regard as him, so I just listen to him because there's no one else and then decide whether I agree or not. I know there were some good analysis written by random bloggers and guys at Cloth5, but then it's not really fair to compare a written piece to a tweet or something he said on a show. Overall I could disagree with everything Monte says, but he's still better at explaining his thoughts than almost anyone in league casting.
