(Please note, this is a general idea of where we are headed, and NOT a verbatim example of the new policy.)
"Programs that give you information you have already earned (such as visible timers) are ok. Programs that give you information you have not earned (such as enemy timers/timers in the fog of war), ones that make decisions for you, or take actions for you, are NOT ok." This is completely ridiculous. With this current policy I could write a program that tells me the cooldown remaining on enemies skills/summoners/items,(calculated from use time + what cdr they have + what skill rank) their skill ranks (calculated from ap/ad and damage the spell does to w/e, would have to click on them once per back), Whether or not they have mana for a full combo, etc. And it would be allowed by riot. This would give a massive advantage, and its all "information that you have earned" that is used to calculate these things.
I think it's silly too. I guess I'll jump on the train however, no way to purposely gimp myself.
I think Riot just needs to make this stuff in client instead of only giving bonus' to people using 3rd party apps.

Rant about bronze / bad players and riot trying to balance for them, basically at ketaras first sentence lol.
+ Show Spoiler +Bronze 5 people should be completely ignored.
I have a friend who is bronze 5, he sucks shit, he's so bad even MJ approves. Yet he sits there and advocates his knowledge like he knows how the game works better then riot.
This is why people like him should be ignored. It doesnt matter how the game works, they dont fucking understand it, they right click on shit, follow shitty mobafire guides and think they understand the shit nightblue3 does on stream and can do it themselves to perfection. (The person in question saw a teemo jungle game and now insists its legit and completely competitive.)
Some people just cant grasp the game. This is what low bronze is. Anything below bronze 1 MMR and people have no grasp of how the game works and arent willing to / cant learn either. (B1+ people are just bad / attempting to understand shit and failing.)
Why riot feels the need to cater to these imbeciles (in the context of league) i'll never know. They wont give a fuck how simplified or easy they make the game, they wont understand it or acknowledge it anyway.
But do you know why riot does it? The gritty truth is this guy ive been referencing bought out every skin, champion and summoner icon, special ward etc for his account. That is an insane amount of money. He's also got 2 more accounts (1 he uses because the first is eloboosted... ... (...) and another is his sons) that he buys god knows how much shit on too.
Riot will constantly try to appease these types of people because they are so deluded they'll drop insane amounts of money on the game, even though they'll never understand any of the shit riot does specifically for them.
And i know at least 10+ people who are like this to a certain degree, god only knows how many millions i dont know.

People already have programs that spam timers in chat, it's annoying as fuck.
Is the change that now you'll get the notice on your blue buff from all 5 people?

I've never had a single game with the timer shoutout in it. However if I understand the ruling correct, the timer callout is not allowed, only a visible timer.

Riot has to balance for and care about bronze league players because they make up more than 50% of the total playerbase. If the game wasn't also balanced for them, many of them would dislike the game and stop playing. Not only would it cost Riot a lot of money (they are a business after all) but the number of people watching LCS could drop from 200k to 100k or less because of it. I think everybody likes how popular the game is, most of the people that make the game popular are terrible at the game.
The reasons why they need to balance for all levels are obvious.
According to: http://www.lolsummoners.com/stats, 72% of all accounts that play ranked are bronze or silver. I can't find the data but I remember reading at one point that less than half of total LoL accounts are level 30, and many level 30 accounts don't play ranked. Not balancing for Bronze means not balancing for nearly 90% of the people who play the game.

The spam timers in chat is a grey area, but they are done (I think, otherwise should be against ToS) by having the person press a button to time a buff/w/e when it goes down, which sends a formatted chat message.
This is different from seeing blue die and having it automatically time it for you.

The thing is that those programs keep timers that you shouldn't have any legitimate way to track, which is without a doubt illegal so they aren't advertised. Everything Curse Voice does is tiptoeing the line between legal and what "should" be allowed so it's advertised. This, of course causes questions.

I thought it'd fall under this. It's making the action of typing out timers. Maybe i read it wrong tho, idk.

A "Riot Enforced Meta" means whatever is dominant quickly becomes so and its really hard to work around it. The game stops being about developing strengths and innovating strategies but rather figuring out what's strong at that time and hoping you are the right team at the right time.

Personally I think memorizing cooldowns and timers is one of the main things that differentiates top tier players from non top tier players, and if you can do that shit with a program I will be pretty sadface.
I can totally understand reducing complexity and things like that, but I'd prefer they did something like rebalanced summoners to make all summoner cds 5 mins so they're easy to time than letting you write a 3rd party program that tells you when the other guys flash comes back up.

Real men have a set of egg timers of varying lengths arranged in front of their screen. Sometimes these egg timers are mental constructs. The dinging oh god every dragon becomes breakfast make it stop

My point was that these people don't understand half the shit riot does, theres a difference between balancing for the more competitive edge and keeping the game easy and simple to play / understand.
Either way, i guess its only pissing off the people who are any good at the game, and who cares about those tryharding fuckers. Aint that right TLGD! /s

so we're back to riot-approved meta and in favor of it?

Lets be honest, 0 farm ward bitches are pretty much useless in Bronze 5 anyways. The reason for channeling farm to your ADC for multiplicative scaling doesn't matter when they miss almost all of the CS, and the rage/dissonance comes from the insistence that somehow soloQ should be a reflection of competitive play.
This could be remedied by breaking that new Illusion and just make ranked 5s/LCS play with a totally different pick ban draft.
|
That's a dangerous precedent to be setting. By that wording, you could make an overlay that pops up WARNING JUNGLER SPOTTED in the middle of your screen for the first 10-15 minutes of the game every time the enemy jungler appears. You aren't getting any new information, you just have it in a more easily accessible format. It's not making a decision for you or giving you information you didn't know.
Other things: Cooldown chart on enemy champs. Even if it's a small overlay with enemy champs, and ultimate status with either Green(blinking green means <10s until up), Blue(unknown) or Grey(down), that's information that could've been calculated.
There are probably many more examples I could think of that don't make decisions for you or give you information you didn't have access to, but are still well within those guidelines.

This could be remedied by breaking that new Illusion and just make ranked 5s/LCS play with a totally different pick ban draft. That's the obvious solution because 99%+ of the time, soloq bans are either OP's, counterpicks to what you're choosing, or annoying shit.
