I think people only liked FF7 cuz story/characters, in terms of gameplay I don't think it really added too much.
Yep exactly, but to be fair the gameplay of RPGs were all pretty simple - FF8 wasn't that great.
FF X-2 was a novelty, nothing else like it. Hahahaha
I liked FF9 for the simple fact that the gameplay/class system basically felt like a straight up old FF, while having a pretty good story and characters (Vivi ;_;). It definately ranks for me.

A good many of the fights in that game are runnable (hold L+R), even some fights that don't seem like they should be runnable.

Nostalgia gaming snob
Realistically it's just hard for me to like the newer FFs because while the series probably did get better, the rest of the JRPG genre got better by a lot more. SMT: Persona basically left FF in the dust, IMO.
Actually, I think I'd rank the Tales games pretty high, certain ones anyway. Tales of Destiny was my first actual console RPG when I was a wee lad, and I loved the hell out of it. Still go back and play it occasionally, love that combat.

If you never drop below 30fps and your using an average monitor there probably never will be a visual difference to you right?
FF7 will always be one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I remember my best friends older brother had the game and I was going to get to borrow it after they beat it. A lot of the game got spoiled to me though, mainly because I would sit there and watch my friend play it. One day, I had to go to my friends house early in the morning to catch the school bus at his house. He of course wanted to show me this "sweet movie". Of course it's at the end of disc 1, you know what I'm talking about! A certain death scene! (Spoiler free yo! lol) we ended up watching that entire cutscene and it felt so emotional even though I have yet to play the actual game. During that scene, the school bus came, we missed it, and my friend had to go wake up his mom so she could drive us to school. Boy was she mad lol.
I still randomly go back and play through ff7. I actually started to play through it about ~6 months ago. Unfortunately since I know every damn thing about the game I got about 5-6 hours in before getting somewhat bored and stopping it.
The characters, the story and the graphics were all top notch. Much better then any other game of it's time. Still the characters and story are much better then 99% of every other game currently out there.

Yeah, I feel similarly. I also really like the soundtrack, even though it's not the best FF soundtrack.
EDIT: Also like 3 and 5, as well as tactics, a lot.
I always felt like FF7's story was pretty hackneyed and campy (felt the same way about 8), but it sort of arrived in a time when a big epic game like that had never been done before. It was the first big console RPG with polygonal graphics and cinematic cutscenes and stuff, and a huge world with a more "modern" sort of side quests and stuff, it was one of the early Playstation RPGs so had a more impressive musical score than previous games, and a leveling system that wasn't just strictly leveling. So it was innovative and flashy and that's what got it a lot of its attention, even though the story was bad.
The really good FF stories were like, 9 and 10 and Tactics. The story in Tactics is like better than all the rest of them put together.

Dunno if this has been answered yet, but this version was made by TAMusic, a famous Touhou Doujin. TAM also released a few Final Fantasy Violin albums, definitely worth checking out! My personal favorite is the violin/piano arrangement of Roses of May (FF9).
So I'm looking to pick up a more physical-centric top lane. Rumble and Elise have been my favorite tops, but with the influx of MR items I feel like it hurts them a lot in laning. I don't want to drop them but I'm trying to explore more options. I'm liking Zed but I feel he's better off mid where champions tend to be squishier.

Also she's actually got one of the scariest bursts out of ADC. If you have a solid support; a condemn into wall isn't that hard to achieve, and the follow up after that is pretty deadly. Also if you have proper peeling/teamfighting, Vayne is not quite as vulnerable as we used to think.
E changes does not stop her from caitlyn harass, does not stop her from draven harass, does not stop her from mf or trist harass.
Vayne has -always- had an extremely powerful in-lane burst combo out of all the ad carries. However, because she is squishy, it takes significantly less burst on the opposing side to kill her than most other ad carries. Her level 1 and 2 are especially prone to abuse, because tumble can't compete with basically anyone else's harass at level 1. And either tumble + silver bolts or tumble + condemn without silver bolts is worse than most adc 2 skill kits. Tumble is only strong harass if you manage to get ahead. Once she's past 4-5 and has several levels to her, yes, she can compete with most ad carries with silver bolts if she's on a mechanically strong player, but there's also no point in assuming that she has a solid support and the opposing team doesn't. Sona harass in particular is brutal to her (to a lesser extent lulu and nami), leona straight up kills her, and thresh is good vs anyone.
AD bot lane is all about mechanical skill, basically all matchups now (and has been for a while) are skill matchups and can be overcome, even with significant disadvantages. If you are losing to a vayne in lane, that's because she overcame the matchup by playing mechanically better than you. Assuming equal mechnical skill, there's no real lane in which vayne would come out favoured.
i'm tired and not making coherant logic but points vayne not op blah

Jarvan. Always jarvan. Beat the shit out of everyone at level 2 where everyone is squishy.

Jarvan is always going to be one of those characters I don't understand. On the enemy team he's a 1v1 monster with insane damage and takes no shit, when I play him I'm lucky if I can tickle them before I die in 2 seconds.
thx Vanka I very much agree with what you say. I also get why I think vayne is so damn weak its really her lvl 1-2 and because i play so much sona against her. So far I also tried to avoid picking support when someone of my team picks vayne, because I don't like to play with a fotm adc player and especially because vayne is so crappy at pushing it makes sona almost useless in that lane apart from being a healbot and I hate (really hate) playing a passive botlane. I wonder which support I should play with vayne, especially if I don't know if the player knows how to trade in lane.

i've mentioned this in a previous post regarding vayne, but i also don't think she's op. that said, i believe a couple aspects of her laning merit further discussion
i don't think there's much room to argue with your points that 1) bot lane matchups need to account for supports and 2) bot lane matchups are highly skill dependent. given that, however, i'm curious as to how you still arrived at the overall conclusion that vayne is typically disavantaged in lane. unfortunately, the influence of the support will have to remain ignored for simplicity. the assumption here is that there is no support that can completely hamstring her when played against (although as you pointed out, sona is particularly problematic and may merit separate discussion. i do not, however, think that leona is especially strong against her), and that there is similarly no support that is autowin when paired with a vayne (i submit zyra and nami as potentially very strong partners).
- you mentioned that vayne is weak until she has all 3 skills, which is true. however, i don't think this weakness is crippling enough that it will continue to hamper her past level 3. - i would identify 3 points in laning that change how vayne is played. the first is at level 3, when having all 3 skills gives her trading ability. the second is at 6, when she can all in and generally outplay people with stealth. the third is when she gets the botrk, at which point she is actively looking to duel. i think she is weak until 3, is more or less fine but has difficulty in some matchups until 6, is able to compete with anyone due to her all in threat after 6, and wins previously even or slightly losing lanes after botrk.
you end your post by stating that 'Assuming equal mechnical skill, there's no real lane in which vayne would come out favoured'. when compared to most other ad carries, i think that vayne lends herself very well to expressing mechanical skill and has a lot more room for outplaying people, which contributes to the perception of her being op.

Mebbe I sux
Jarvan is OP, i went 1v2 with an ez / cait (dont ask) trying to push bot tower earlier and fucked them up sideways. Forced both flashes and escapes. gg no re.
Also, i dont notice FPS now im on a PC that handles like above 40 always. But when i was running between 10-20 FPS, that shit really sucked and REALLY effected my play.
