Some stuns and ensares ignore bkb. In dota2, because the description is kind of mess-up, so it's hard for new people to know what kind of stun or ensnare can go through bkb. If you take the HoN approach, it's easier to recognize. Basically there're 2 main types of affect: physical and magical. BKB ignore anything magic-based, whether it's a cc or damage, but it still takes full from anything physic-based. So if a spell does magic damage, but its cc affect is physical-based, you can bkb to ignore the damage but still take the full cc affect, and vice versa, you can take full damage with bkb on but ignore all the affect.

I didn't want to post this in OSL thread as to seem like a dick, but wtf is Blizzard smoking to make their OSL finals clash with TI3???
Never ever touched/watched Dota until recently, but even I know not to fuqq with The International.

I believe they said that it was their only chance to fit it into schedules etc. Which is a reasonable possibility, but implies that they did a very poor job of planning sufficiently ahead because as you say TI is a pretty silly esport to schedule against.

They both did pretty well, IIRC.

That is because dota has a messup way to explain things, it should be pretty simple like HoN. Dota2's spell description is very hard to understand and I used to have a very hard time to understand it. For example Sladar's crush has physic-based damage, and magic-based effect, so even when you bkb, sladar will still does damage with his stun, but doesn't stun you. Bash is physic-based, so you can still be bashed when bkbing. Bane's ulti, Batrider's ulti has magic-based damage, and physic-based affect. That's why it can be used on bkb hero, but doesn't do any damage.
The description should be that easy to understand and not require you to pull a wiki out to know about it.

I think that when comparing LOL vs dota hyper carries that while the dota carries carry much harder they are also generally a lot weaker than LOL carries before they reach late game builds.
Lol carries generally deal ok damage in both the early and mid game through spells and building damage focused items early. This generally allows them to have more of an impact than the dota carries early who tends to have little spell damage and more passives that helps you scale later as well as having to build things like bkb to be able to fight at all.
That means that even if the 4 other heroes drop of significantly late they have to make up for that early when their hard carry is more or less a giant baby that needs to be fed and babysat.

It's easier to compare LoL to the archetype of MMORPG than Dota2. LoL carries are strong throughout the game, but very glass-canon and weak against burst damage. In Dota2, you can't just go glass-canon build. Almost every items dota2 carries have to build have some kind of sustain in there, whether it's pure hp, hp and regen from +str, or +armor from agi. Imagine if Caitlyn or Vayne get 190hp+0.3hp regen from the boot, 190hp+0.3hp regen+ magic immunity from bkb, 190hp+0.3hp regen+4armor (maybe around 15, 20 armor in LoL)+2illusions from manta, I'm sure they're gonna be tanky as hell.
The difference between dota2 and lol carries are mainly driven by game items.

I've never really used A move actually. D: My ADC animation cancel has always been mass clicking. Is it easier with A move? Same with stop, though I guess that would be useful for checking for bush wards. I'm only silver league~.

So when is worlds / S3 end? I finally dragged my way out of bronze and wonder if its worth pushing for MMR that could get me Gold in placements S4.
If not ima take a break cos fuck i played too much in the last 5 days T.T like 10 games per day (at like a 2.5/1 win ratio though :D)

I'm always scared to pick him in ranked because back when Talon was more popular, someone always counter-picked me with Talon. I have bad memories of that matchup.
Sometimes it feels like even being in XP range is overextended against him.
