Summoning blue phantoms for moonlight butterfly and a few other fights would also be useful (4 kings for example) Yeah, but that is the point of the game to me. Sure, you will die lots and lots of times against those guys. But you learn more and more each time. And then you finally beat them, and it is sweet. Summoning some guy to basically easymode that stuff after you died to it 50 times takes everything out of that victory and makes it hollow. I died to O&S. A lot. I also died to them a lot when i did my SL1 run. But i never even thought about summoning someone there, since i wanted to KILL THOSE BASTARDS.

I have to buy a controller for this, right? (And to answer your earlier question I have no fucking clue. My wife asks me that all the time. Maybe some unconscious desire to force myself to be a good parent?)

It's hard, but a lot of times it's only hard because you just don't know what in a certain room is going to kill you until it does a dozen times. You have to die twenty times in some rooms just to finally see the solution, that doesn't make a good game imo.

Apparently some very few people play with keyboard and mouse, but almost everyone agrees that a controller just works a lot better with this game. Also, one thing you can easily miss on your first playthrough is the additional content. If you reach the final boss (it is obvious that he is) look up the additional content, because you probably haven't found it since it is absurdly hidden.

If a game is literally impossible to beat your first time through simply due to lack of knowledge then it's not true difficulty.

The only genres that I prefer a mouse/keyboard are MOBA/RTS. Everything else feels better with a controller. FPS is a bit of a toss up, controller is more comfortable for long sessions, but keyboard/mouse is better for precision and skill.

The gameplay itself is really rewarding, especially if you have good mechanics. A lot of dashes, spike jumps, possibility to gain a shit tons of speed... But yeah, as much as Super Meat Boy is doable with a keyboard, Dustforce is way harder with it. Doable, but harder. Marksel, one of the top Dustforce players, is playing with a keyboard if I'm not mistaken. Edit: Dustforce musics are on par with SMB musics btw. the dustforce soundtrack is what got me to play the game at first, it's good enough that i still listen to it outside of the game the perfect clear bonus 'difficult' levels are preposterously hard, while the earlier levels are something like this. here's a full clear speedrun for those with the time and interest to see the game in more detail. there's a ton of replay value if you're trying for SS (perfect) clears or leaderboard placement, and the game's music/visuals are so relaxing that restarting runs over and over to get a certain section down doesn't get too frustrating. it's worth picking up for fans of the genre even if not on sale, the full price is around $10, a bit more with ost album which i also recommend for those who enjoy chiptunes

The guy set out to make a really hard game, not a fair one. If you're playing the game you're probably already aware of what you're getting yourself into. Plus all of the Nintendo stuff is pretty silly and makes it bearable. Finally beating a really hard section is incredibly satisfying. Edit: Also the game requires a lot of twitch reflexes which is real difficulty.

That's true, I forgot to mention it's possible to watch the replays easily in the game. And the checkpoint system is well made for those who aren't fond of going for a 100%.

For now, at least. I got it in an old Bundle, haven't played it. But I got the OST with it and the music is just like really good. Go with me to a kpop concert next month :3
