@ticklishmusic: OMG you're going for an MD/PhD?? i'm just about to start in UCLA's program! let me know if you have any questions about anything. and I interviewed for emory's MD/PhD program and loved it, their directors are really really nice and you should definitely talk to them if you haven't already. I was really sad when I didn't get into Emory, it was by far my favorite interview

honestly, mainly just the satisfaction of going pewpew with lasers
I also really prefer playing adcs with mobility (but I think that's become a crutch for me to position badly so I should really practice playing adcs without escapes. that's probably why I keep losing games as Twitch after monstrously winning lane)

Other than the fact that spiderform definitely should have mana costs and cougar form arguably should? I think its because Riot INTENDED for Jayce to be able to build as a semi-ADC that focuses on hammer or as a semi-bruiser that focuses on hammer, whereas Nid and Elise are expected to be fluid and utilize both.

Having them all relatively balanced but all bland is rather boring and shouldn't be something you should strive for in my books. Champs should have niches and be interesting not all roughly same.

Niches are fine, but you can't expect to have 100+ champs all fill a different niche. Also, if it's an ADC champ, that already defines a role -- a niche champ would be something that isn't obviously going to fill hte role of ADC.

I think the reason why you guys think all ADC's are bland is because you aren't considering unorthodox ADC's to be ADC's.
Jayce and Quinn are very different from other AD Carries, but the conventional wisdom is that Jayce is not an ADC and Quinn is bad. Urgot also very different. Blue Ez is pretty different.
Then there's always melee carries like Trynd and Aatrox who OH GOD I'M NOT STARTING THAT DISCUSSION

Meh just in general riot follows a very formulaic design. I guess this is forced by their business model so they never go truly balls to the wall when it comes to new champs. Never truly experiment. Always air on the side of caution.

I still want to talk about mid laners with big kill potential, because I want to pick one up and don't really understand them because I play super passive Lux 24/7. Who's good in the current state of the game and is a mid laner who focuses on abusing the enemy mid and getting kills in lane?

There's a mantheon thread up  . Guess Zed or even Liss is a good bet. Liss sets up ganks really well and always has threat of killing if opponent misplays.

I have been playing Lissandra but I play her really tanky and defensively and don't focus on damage at all. How do you build her if you want to kill people?
Although to be fair I do that because she's my pick when our jungler/top are like, Khazix/Riven and I feel like our team needs somebody who can engage.

Lol, yeah fuck that noise.
I think Syndra has huge kill potential from long range, but that's just because of the level 6 murderfest she creates. However, I think that more common picks for murder-mids are things like Fizz, Kat, and Kassadin.
Edit: Oohh, and Soniv would definitely say Annie. Plus, I'm not sure if this is totally true, but I bet you can make Karma into a early mid lane killer too. Dat Q damage is OP.

dblade annie and abuse that range and kill them at 2 easy

Any time a champ comes out where I can say immediately what his role is going to be and where he's going to go, I consider that a failure.
All the most fun DotA heroes were the ones where, the first time I read the hero I said "this guy looks awesome, but I have no clue what the fuck I'm supposed to do with him". The ones where I could say for certain what they were going to do tended to be comparatively boring.
