Of my last 10-20 ranked games more than half of them have had people trolling champ select with blatant troll champion picks, taking roles that are already taken, or harassing teammates before the game even starts. It seems much worse than it was a few months ago, people seem to be figuring out that if they're assholes in champ select and then don't say anything in game they'll probably get away with it. Real infuriating. I shouldn't be put in positions where I want to dodge 4-5 games in a row. | ||

I play LoL to try to learn how to play and get better, and I refuse to assume that other people aren't playing for the same reasons. I try silly shit too, but I do it in normals and when we do TROLLS games. When I'm playing ranked I play seriously. If the conventional wisdom is that you shouldn't do that, then I think that's a pretty big problem. Why is it ranked if it's not meant to be taken seriously? I feel like there is a serious underlying problem with the game in general where the game encourages you to be a team player and work together once the game starts, but at the same time encourages an every man for themselves attitude in champ select. It makes too big a percentage of games toxic before they even start. And this just gets more and more true the lower on the ladder it is. | ||

There are SO MANY THINGS you can do to improve your own play that is outside of the influence of your enemies or allies. Have a shitty team? Use it as experience to play from behind or through adversity. You are using your rank as a mark of improvement. That's not how it necessarily works. Your own play can improve leaps and bounds without your rank moving much. You can learn how to actually break through that slump. But this is a discussion for the QQ thread. | ||

Elo don't matter - play to play. Yup. My strategy for champ select S2 was: 1st pick? Take mid and minimize window. 2-5th pick? say: "I prefer mid" and minimize window. If mid taken, play jungle or whatever's left. I always expect the worst and more often than not am pleasantly surprised. Just ask anyone I play with how negative I am. Hell, YOU'VE played with me, Ketara. Lately I have to remember not to talk ingame at all though 'cause I've been raging for whatever reason. | ||
