Avarice also builds into Atmas / Executioner's Calling now too.
Regarding the cutlass nerf, Gunblade now has UNIQUE Passive: Your basic attacks and single target spells against champions reduce the cooldown of this item by 3 seconds. Deals 150 + 40% of your Ability Power as magic damage It can also build into Blade of the Ruined King.
Both items sound really good on Jax.

I do really like how most (all?) items have multiple build paths, so if you get an early warden's mail you aren't basically forced to get a randuin's eventually
For averice's new passive, if you kill 12 minions per minute with it, that's equivalent to an extra 4g/10s, for a total of 8g/10s. Not shabby at all. It seems that Riot wants classes besides the AD carry to take crit chance seriously...

Notice that Lux ult travels instantaneously, while the wave has a speed. So better AP ratio makes sense, harder to aim (thought it does CC too, how do you price that with AP ratio?).

Good point. So I dunno. It seems begging to be nerfed if they REALLY want her to be a support, but I would love it if she could be a reverse-Zyra (powerful support, mid off-pick). Every time I can confuse in early champ select, the happier I am. Also, it's apparently GREAT CC if you hit people with the end of it, so yeah... RRRL STRONK. We'll see what happens.

What do you guys think of the new masteries?
I like them on the whole, although the offense tree does seem simpler. Both AD and AP have a clear 21 points they can spec into, with the only real question being whether or not you get Spellsword on AP. Spellsword is clearly worth it if you're planning on autoattacking champions like, ever.

New masteries look great, but they also seem just straight up stronger than old ones so I wonder how that will pan out.
On a side note the amount of shitty supports dying trying to pickpocket mastery will be immense .

I wonder if tourney games will turn into an escalating game of "do you dare to base to refresh oracles during baron dance" chicken. Also it does seem like item timings may become more important than ever with the new effects, the first Black Cleaver might decide a teamfight and snowball the game.
Kinda sad that they hit tankiness. Isn't building tanky already being hard enough with the penetration change?

You've got to remember that they're also nerfing penetration values.
Also, I'm really happy for the new masteries, defensive looks more usable and biscuiteer is hilarious sounding.

new sheen/glacial item is pretty op. Should be good on udyr since shurelyas sucks dicks (have to overreact about every nerf) now and he needs the slow. Was already starting to go philo/hog/mercs/trinity on jungle udyr because of all the kiting fuckers everyone picks these days.

How many times you think your lanes are all going to feed and flame you if you play a farming style. Try to "carry" with extra 300 gold when every lane loses. Saintvicious has always had a shitty solo queue rating and oddone hit rank one with jungle nunu. Ganking is WAY stronger in solo queue because people ward less and play more agressively. Saintvicious farming style worked way better in arranged play when he could do work in the midgame.
seriously people who flame solo queue flamers are doing exactly the same thing as the people they flame. Solo queue people being selfish is a flaw, not an optimal play. The only real things that are weaker/stronger in solo q are strats that require planning and coordination, champs that snowball (good) or need a comp built around them (bad). Everything else is just people being bitter.

I think it might be a little early to say that they hit tankiness.
For one, the tanky masteries in season 3 seem MUCH better.
21 points in defense in S2 gets you: 6 Armor 6 MR 2 reduced minion damage 2 reduced damage 138 HP + 3% HP 3% movespeed 1.5% reduced damage 10% CC reduction
In S3 you get: 138 HP +4% HP 5 Armor +1 armor per nearby enemy champion 2 MR +1 MR per nearby enemy champion 15% slow reduction 5% reduced damage from turrets 15% CC reduction 10% less time dead 3% less damage taken
Or in comparison, assuming a teamfight situation where you're getting the full bonus from Defender, you're trading the reduced minion damage and 3% movespeed for 1% HP, 4 Armor, 1 MR, 15% slow reduction, 5% CC reduction, 5% reduced damage from turrets, 1.5% less damage taken and 10% less time dead.
If I look at an AP build out of the Offense tree, all the new masteries are giving me are .5% damage from Havoc, .5 AP, and Spellsword. Executioner dropped from +6% at 40% health to +5% at 50% health, which may well be a nerf, and the 10% Mpen turned into 8%. So aside from Spellsword, AP masteries are staying even or possibly getting worse. Items like Athenes and Deathcap got nerfed.
It even looks like a viable pure tank build might be like 0/27/3, where you just grab the 2% movespeed in Utility, and go for 10% crit strike reduction and 5% more bonus armor and MR in defense.
Supports will be a lot harder to kill early game, because the Utility tree has a natural 5% movespeed in it, and the boots changes will make them not quite so slow before they get boots, plus they'll be able to start with more wards and more pots.
A lot of people may prefer Barrier over Ignite, which will make everybody harder to kill.
There are also some new tanky items like the Ohmwrecker and Frozen Fist that seem really good, and bottles should make spamming pots a lot more efficient early game with its low price point, which will make everybody harder to kill.
It might be more accurate to say they buffed damage, but they buffed tankiness too.
