It was absolutely the right thing to do. I've had alot of games where I counterpicked akali in lane (garen/wukong/ww) and dominated her. The problem: Akali didnt have to win her lane at all to be stomping you afterwards. When for example midlane is equal and botlane gets stomped then pressure is on you from their jungler. A good akali will eventually farm her GB nontheless if she's positioned solo top and that was often a too huge of a comeback tbh. Despite her losing lane, and as in this example, her ad carry winning his/hers you have to focus her nontheless. If her other mates are strong enough then they will charge your team boldly in a dragon/baron fight and she can despite being behind clean up everything with only her gunblade. I've only encountered this just recently a couple of times. When solo top akali gunblade rushing first became popular a couple weeks ago then I laughed at the incompetence of most akali players. They had time to figure out the champ now and suddenly the imbalance came to light: this item was just too costefficient. The more classic akali-mid-westrice build is completely unaffected through this and is still good. But it depends on you actually doing well, which is fine and dandy. So in the end Akali never needed a nerf, but the synergy with GB just was too forgiving and too hard to stop. | ||
