Dude, what could you even pick up that would be close to that good? Smite is awesome, let's you control baron, dragon, buffs (steal them, stop other team from stealing). Why wouldn't you want that more often? Plus you get some extra gold, why say no to extra gold? :D
EDIT: I guess the poster above me made this post look really stupid...

I don't think Smite mastery is 100% necessary but it's definitely worth a point. Only time I don't get it is when I go 0/21/9 on a jungler (which is almost never nowadays).

5 sec cd on smite really doesnt matter

Mid elo: Mid and bot decide the game. Top has relatively little influence on fights that could set up a dragon.
High elo: All lanes important.
At all elos: Jungler can be anything from useless to carry.
From 1200 to 1700, I carried lots of game pretty hard as Cait or Kog. Vayne, Corki, Ezreal also have strong carry qualities at all elos. Ashe and Urgot not so much as they lack in damage and/or ability to win lanes. Cait seems to fall off a bit around the 1500-1700 elo range currently as she lacks a bit during midgame with bad teams. See, as Cait or Kog, I can win lane and be ages ahead of their AD carry, but I can't carry a team to victory when they're derping around and playing terribly. I know it's lame to blame your teammates for losses, but when you lose a game after going 3-0 in lane but your team is terrible, I can't help but rage a bit.

The smite mastery is completely trivial for any jungler.
The most required mastery is the experience mastery, as you will not reach level 2 after blue or double golems without it. You can get around it by doing big wolf > blue standard path, but that makes you very inflexible to counter-jungling.
The buff duration mastery is very useful, especially in solo queue where you'll probably sit on your first 2 blues and 3-4 reds.

Smite Mastery is like Greed imo. It's not crucial, but for 1 point it's very often better than anywhere else you could spend 1 point once you've filled out the important stuff.
Even if the 5 second CD isn't crucial, you'll probably get at least 150 gold out of the gold gain component in an average 40 minute game, which is 2 free wards.
On October 09 2011 07:22 zalz wrote:Show nested quote +Honestly, I'd hardly say any one role is better than another in solo queue. It's just a matter of comfort--if you're good at playing a given role, you'll win as that role. If you're having a hard time at a different role, it's probably just that you're worse at playing it rather than it actually being harder to carry with. Being a good support or good AD isn't gonna reap as many rewards as being a good top or mid. If your lane phase depends partially on another player then for soloque you might aswell be playing russian roullete. If you can't outplay your opponents hard enough to carry 1 lane partner in a duo lane, how can you expect to carry 4 people later on?
Again, oftentimes in solo queue, if you're playing a strong laning AD, you can shut down the opposing duo by outplaying them, even with minimal help from your support. And then you've made 2 enemy champions irrelevant, and not just 1 if you where shitting on a single solo laner.

so if there are any one in the Berkley area in California interested in using their Saturday night playing LoL, there is going to be a lock in there at a local LAN/internet cafe, for League of legends (I hear there will be free Riot Nasus and maybe Singed there). I think the place is called MegaLAN or something, it begins at 10pm I would be more specific about the place, if I actually knew the absolute location I would tell you, but can there be that many places that has a lock in with only LoL and Riot Employees?
anyways the reason I am asking is because a friend of mine is in Berkley and will probably be there (like 90% chance) so I thought I would see if anyone would go say hi to him for me xD He'll respond to the name Sindrez or Seven, tall (185cm or 6feet 2 inches) brown haired fella. Probably has a huge grin and trying to get autographs from the riot people.
sorry for going offtopic :>
edit: this would be the place: http://www.eudemonia.net/

Screw it, I'm sticking to bruisers and Teemo. I think the ranged AD carry has the least influence on the game except you bring in some huge utility like ashe does. The carry's farm is at least 50% dependand on the support. If you just assume that the ad carry can lasthit properly then its even less than that. For most ad carries it all comes down to positioning and farming. Not taking away anything from them but the other roles kinda bring so much more important stuff that I have at least the feel that this is somewhat true.
If you want to carry your team in low level, or even high level pub games, solo top as Nasus. Farm for at least 25 minutes and if you can get an exceptional amount of last hits and a strong farm on your Q, you will be able to completely carry your team almost no matter how poorly they are playing. There is no champion in the entire game more powerful than a farmed Nasus.

So I've been playing a fair bit of Teemo. I have a question now:
I've been building him attack speed/on hit, I'm wondering why ranged carries don't play like this too? Like, it's obvious that Teemo's damage mostly comes from auto attacks, much like Cait or Ashe, so why does he have a significantly different build? He doesn't seem to get anything more from Wits End, Malady or Bloodrazor than any other ranged carry, and the others don't seem to get more from IE, BT or LA than he does.
Can a standard AD carry build work on him? Conversley, can an aspd/on hit build work on, say, Cait or Ashe?

His e poison + w kiting
You do hybrid build because so much of his damage is through poison

Not to mention that more AS makes for stronger split pushing which is his primary role.

Other AD carries generally have either AD scaling abilities, or some steroid power that favors AD items. For example, Tristana has a 90% ASpd steroid, so spending gold buying attack speed before (which is a significant component of every magic proc item) before you build up your damage is not a great way to spend your gold.
On October 09 2011 12:14 RetZ wrote: Not to mention that more AS makes for stronger split pushing which is his primary role. AS is not inherently stronger for split pushing than AD. In fact, the fact that AD items don't waste gold on passives that don't proc on towers makes them better for pushing towers.

Hrm, good points I suppose. It just feels odd that a char with pretty much the same playstyle has a much different build.
