I think if you are both below your "real" elo, duo queing is probably a good idea, but if you are near it, it hurts because the engine puts value on the fact that you are "coordinated". so unless you have some really sick lane combo going and play significantly better together than apart, its probably just better to solo q
The only time duo queuing helps is when you're smurfing or are under the rating you actually should be at. Otherwise you're just loading the other team with higher elo players.
4athene22 US 1300 elo i play every roles (dont have a good ad carry tho) Alistar - mordekaiser - cassiopeia - brand - tryndamere - xin zhao - fiddlestick
Duo Q is the worst thing ever. I duo Q: 3 feeders on my team. I get a duo Q on my team: those 2 feed and don't communicate. I get a duo Q on the enemy team: 5HIT gets carried.
Duo queuing is guaranteed to land you 3 donkeys as teammates. Seriously the people it fills you in with are downright mentally crippled.
In solo q it's a crapshoot. Sometimes your team is bad, sometimes the enemy team is even worse, sometimes you get your ass carried. Duo queue randoms are just special ed to the max.
I dunno, I find that Duo Q can be just as frustrating. I like doing Duo Q and both of us go bot, we rape our lane only to realize our other two lanes are just being dominated. =(
Duo Q is a terrible idea you're not any better than the people you get in solo queue if you have 1 retard in your team chances are you play like that retard in ~20% of your games anyway.
Duo Qing is like 3 retards+you 2 vs 5 guys as good as you 2. Bad idea.
To carry in duo Q you just have to lane properly. You need to play AP Mid and Jungler basically so you can win the game for your teammates. It doesn't matter how bad bottom is if you're ganking their lane every minute and getting them kills/ahead. Just have to abuse the bad people and shelter your own baddies.
I think the biggest thing I see playing duo Qs is people not lane switching. If your top is getting raped don't yell at him the entire game, swap lanes with him. I just played a game where we had level 9 garen top versus 6 Jax and we completely rolled the enemy team because his team spent the game yelling at him in all chat instead of switching lanes so he'd stop getting owned. It got that way because of my jungling too so
If you're playing duo bot you can get dragon control, but you're leaving 3 people to fail possibly. You can't really exert control on other lanes as bottom because you're under leveled compared to solos.

Am I too low ELO for that? People don't seem to understand that someone else might do better where they were feeding when I offer to switch with them and they think I'm insulting them, they get angry, threaten to afk and continue doing what they do. Some of them are thankful for the offer and do well after the switch too though, I love nice people online .
I love playing with my best mate since high school, but he's just so very good, 90% of the time he shuts down the mid carry so hard and then ganks everyone I feel like I'm not doing a thing when I play with him so I only do normals. I don't like the idea of having a higher ELO than I should have just because he's so good (poor guy's lower ELO than me though).

If we removed all those duo q games I would be about 300 ELO higher.
This, so hard. I have a lot of baddie friends around 800 elo who always want me to carry them out of their own personal "elo hell" so I go mid, go 5/0 in lane and still lose cause my friend who's jungling feeds 6x.
I lost 150 elo in the last week duo queuing with friends. I resolved never to do it again.
Depends on the duo. Totalbiscuit posted a video with duo q and I dont think he is that high The thing with duo queue is that u must do those "imba" lanes, I got a lot of elo doing akali/irelia or akali/kat combo with a friend, then we got higher people got smarter and our smurfs went lower again xD
Ok, today I've lost my last nerves. Q with 2 friends, I'm Brand mid and win my lane against Ryze easy. Toplane are 2 random renekton/xin against sololane Akali. After 13 minutes Akali is 8/0. Previous game 0/11 Karma, previous game a veigar with 1/7. We lost all 5 games that we played today despite always winning our lanes -.-
Dear DoXa. When one of your lanes is losing please switch with them instead of complaining about them failing. If you don't even put pressure on that lane with your advantage you deserve to lose.

We did and they just run blindly into enemies on the other lane. That's the sad part. Sure I ganked ones or twice with Brand before 15 minutes, but if i leave my lane to often I'll lose my lane. Dunno what to do

Winning the game != Winning your lane. Keep this in mind.
If you're losing the game, its never over until you actually team fight.
If you're winning and haven't team fought yet, dont get too cocky.
It definitley helps if you win your lane, out cs your solo lane, kill them, kill a turret, w/e.
But in the end you win games by ace'ing their team or taking baron. If you have retards that get picke doff before team fights or something similar you might never win the game despite how well you're doing.
I don't think the players on your team are really any worse when you duo queue (assuming you're not super high ranked), you just have someone else to rage about them with and point out their mistakes so how bad they are is more noticeable.
When you're solo queue, say you're bot lane and your random pub completely fails a jungle gank top...you are often none the wiser. However if your duo q partner is top and the jungler messes up badly they're now an awful player in both your minds. I also tend to not try as hard in terms of leading the team and what not when I duo because I feel like we can pick up the slack but then often a pub will throw the game because I didn't type out as much strat to them.
It doesn't really make any sense to say you get worse players because the difference between a the players you get as a duo and solo are a matter of a couple wins here and there (+2 wins = 25 rating) which in LoL doesn't amount to meaning anything skill wise.
From my experience anyway when I duo on smurfs and fuck around we always say wow our team was really bad etc...then when I duo on my main account and try properly we win nearly every game until we start facing the players around our skill level.
