a thought:

TT is more or less a dead map, right? No one plays 3v3. Why? Because there's an XP/IP penalty in place. People don't care that the average TT game is shorter than the average match on SR, all they see is -22% in bolded red letters. It's purely psychological.

Enter the new IP system. People don't think '50 IP for 20 min game and 140 for 60 min game', they think '50 for a win when I used to get 110'. I wonder if Riot's surprised at all over their forum rage.

That and, uh, you really do get less IP now.

The game is balanced around 5v5 play, not 3v3.

So I've been mulling over if I want to do something like day9's daily with LoL and basically teach people to be as good as they can be (i mean i know i'm not the best of the best but I'm fairly confident in my abilities)

Does anyone have any suggestions on things they'd like to see/learn that I would be able to provide through analysis and/or playing games.

If we instead know what the packet does, there's a high likelihood that we can do much cooler things, like:
  • Combine replays of the same game to form a complete view
  • Skip past the loading screen and straight into the game after the replay viewer has loaded (without any of this messy "skipping around" that actually just speeds up how fast the packets are being sent)
  • Remove useless packets to further decrease the size of replays
  • Automatically track stats/item builds/whatever in a game (either after the fact or during)

There's a lot more possibilities, but thats just a few off the top of my head. Here's a link to the list of packet types and their byte values in case anyone wants it: http://pastebin.com/V03NUsVU Hopefully I'll have some time soon to setup a better environment for comparing packets of the same type, so that maybe I can get an understanding of how they are formatted past their type specifier.

theres alot less to do in LoL opposed to starcraft, but i imagine it'd be alot more thorough and indepth Champion Spotline. maybe 1 every week or something would be badass... start with olaf plz

Is Void Staff even that good? You get like 53 flat pen from runes + E + Sorcs, and since the AP is so low-value on Ryze, their team has to be stacking A LOT of MRes for the Void Staff to be worthwhile. It seems like building more survivability would be better than building Void.

Gonna be real tough to do when you can only do it from one person's PoV. As others have said there is a lot less you can focus on than with Starcraft. In theory it's a great idea but without replays or observer mode you've got some work ahead of you.
