Stimpack if for people that bought the starter bundle, as they added a 7 day stimpack to it and gave everyone who bought it previously.

I also got a 14 day one instead of the 7 day one they said we were getting though. It's not even like they said ages ago we'd get a 7 day and then just changed their mind, they made a blue post either just before or just after saying they were giving/gave us a 7 day stimpack :s.

I think that the real story that is being overlooked is Muradin. He turns into a raid boss at level 16 with Give 'em the Axe. Anub had a high win-rate even before the patch because people who liked playing him, were really good at him. IIRC most weeks in Hotslog he was over 60% but with only a few hundred games played. He's a CC-machine and the beetles did deceptively good damage.

Now that the beetles actually attack things instead of laning people realize how much damage they do (which isn't stopped by doing anything applied to Anub either). And the responsiveness changes on his Q and E just make it much, much easier to apply all that CC he has.

From what I can tell Web Wrap is falling out of favor now that you can reliably land those two skill shots and you just go for Locus Swarm to buff to self-heal from his beetles (which people probably underestimated because Beetle AI was so bad).

Muradin's been a top pick in professional games lately, so I don't know if overlooked is the right word for him, but Anub just had a free week on top of his buffs/fixes, so it's no surprise that everyone's raving about him.

I own Muradin and want to give him a try, I'm scared to go Axe at lvl 16 though, since without Stone Form that means I've got a big gap before Hardened Shield for a survivability talent. But I will certainly give that a try, when I used to play Muradin I always hated how low his AA damage was (and I wasn't taking rewind after it moved to lvl 20 to make up for it).

In all of my post-patch games I've never felt confident enough to take Give 'em the Axe over Stoneform.

Just do it. You have such a gigantic HP pool with Avatar that you have plenty of time to disengage if the enemy team focuses on you. And if the enemy team does focus its stuff on you, then your team probably will be mauling its backline.

I prefer Stoneform/Rewind over axe/hardened. But it really depends on compositions. If the opposing team has more damage taken debuffs then you need hardened anyway for example. It is really important to adapt your talents to what is going on as a tank and not blindly pick.

But if you have Arthas/Jaina on your team, executioner talents always.

Anub is doing well because people ignore the bugs and don't move out of his Locust Swarm range once he charges into a team. Many people still ignore summons, which makes them stronger then they are supposed to be. Anub change will make people realize that it is immportant to first kill the minions and afterwards the boss.
Always fun to kill a fresh spawned beetle of Anub and engange when his old ones run out of time and he suddenly missjudges his own heal.

Here's some proof that Rank 1s can be newbs. Just had a game on Sky Temple where my team had Anub, Muradin (me), Abathur, Kael, and Malfurion. Other team had ETC, Valla, Tychus, BW, and Azmodan. Neither Valla nor Tychus took their Giant Killer talents. Both are Rank 1. Take a guess how that turned out for them.

I usually take a Multishot build with Frost Shot at that tier, but then again I always just refer to cookie cutter builds off the web so maybe they're bad.

You should. =p

Think about that particular game. Who exactly is Valla going to kite? Both Muradin and Anub can dive on her. Kael and Malfurion won't be kited. And Abathur is Abathur. She needed a build that could burn down tanks more efficiently.

I probably wouldnt of taken giant killer there either. Valla can't safely get off many auto attacks in that situation, i think the added utility of 40% aoe slow would be much better in virtually all situations for teamfighting. Tychus does even less auto attacking, giant killer wouldnt of made sense on him either (recall that giant killer only does 0.5% health damage per hit due to how his auto works).

The hotfix nerfed kaelthas much more than people realize. For single target burst for example, i use empowered living bomb, living bomb, stun (skip if on cd or stuff in the way), flamestrike, which procs another bomb. In this combo, you essentially get off 3 bombs on this single target, as each reapplication of living bomb triggers the explosion of the previous bomb. After the hotfix, flamestrike no long procs bombs on targets that already have bomb ticking on them. So for just single target, you used to be able to get off 3 bombs, now you can only get off 2. For teamfighting this is much more noticeable, but the gist of it is that you used to be able to proc multiple bombs (3-4) on your primary target and secondary target within a rotation, now its hard capped at 2 bombs on primary target and 1 bomb on secondary within the rotation. This drastically reduces his teamfighting damage. What this also means is that against good players, the lvl 13 talent of living bomb spreading is virtually useless. I've been experimenting for the past couple of games with living bomb ticks reducing cd at lvl 13 instead.

The nerf was absolutely necessary though. It was almost impossible for a team with a well positioned kaelthas to lose teamfights after lvl 16. Now hes just strong, not crazy strong.

Newbie here. I started playing last Friday, and I got the Stimpack bonus the next day. Suddenly I'm in the 20's, and I haven't even seen half of the roster in action yet. So, my question to people is: when did you all start playing Hero League? As soon as you hit 30? I feel like I only know how 5'ish heroes work, and even then only in one kind of variation each. Just seems to be coming up fast is all.

Gold, on the other hand, that's not happening as quick as I'd like. Haha.

well Kael was just okayish without his 13/16 talents, so now that they are fixed, he is just a long range spell spammer. Still damn good at preventing focus attacks against someone on your team.

As for the Giant killer thing. Against that comp you should never go for a multishot build. You want to come from the side and blow up Kael or just any other person that ETC might deliver to you. Malf was their healer after all and BW on Valla's side.

But if one always takes the same talents they get really good with it even if it is sub optimal. Giant killer on Tychus is rather weak though.

I reached 40 before I even had 10 heroes to play in hero league. You should read the 101 hero league guide in the forum here then you are good to go haha.

I would go laser versus that team tbh, the only plausible happening for the enemy to kill it, would be Aba-clone+kael nuking it, otherwise it's free to go ham on anub/mura.

What's people's experience with Abaclone Kaelthas? My current hypothesis is that he's too lackluster without talents, but I don't have any experience.

you shouldn't give a damn about the level. it's just a way of "progress" that is really no indication for anything.

you need 10 heroes for heroleague anyways so it takes some time to get enough gold for that. (or you buy one of the bundles). if you want to dive into hero league, try reading this.

imo, you should at least have a basic understanding about what every heroe does and what you can roughly expect from a team composition.

but it's np if you have a solid roster of fotm decent heroes and are comfortable with picking missing roles. you'll learn by playing.

The extra damage from the clone does alot. If you are fighting in a choke and have a tanky tank copying Kael is a good choice. But there are no must clones, often the situation is important. If it is an open battlefield for example two muradins will do insanle blocking work and in no time one enemy hero is singled out.

Maybe I wasn't clear, apologies. Obviously he contributes some damage, but do you every experience that he makes a significant impact, like compared to a Jaina, for example? Jaina always deal really significant damage regardless of situation as long as you create her in combat or close to something you can nuke, obviously, as her burst is already really strong. Other champions just seem very lackluster as they don't have enough burst that can be taken advantage of in the 15 seconds you have the clone up. I guess a Kael'Thas clone can put out two dots or two augmented flame strikes, but does this feel significant?

Which is why you should alter your build to be most viable against the enemy team. In this case with that team comp I would have gone vamp, rapid fire, lazer and giant killer. I don't have the exact numbers on hand but I imagine if you're free to fire on the tanks Giant Killer would give like a bonus 3% HP damage per second.

Does a cloned KT W immediately set off the real KT's W? So like could a KT DW, W then clone DW, W to ignite the W left over by the real KT? That could be some pretty decent AOE burst.
