People tattoo all kinds of stuff on their bodies, so I don't think a video game tattoo is any more retarded than any generic tattoo.

My friends that have tattoos have them representing country, military service, loved ones (alive and dead), colleges, and music. Things that either shaped who they became, or that have been central to their lives for 20+ years. The only way I could see a starcraft tattoo fitting in with those would be for a progamer or someone like Tasteless, where starcraft has truly sculpted who they are and where they will be in the future. If you personally hold tattoos' significance in a lesser light, you can get one for lesser reasons, but the types I described are the types of tattoos I think people will not regret.
