This kid wrestles at 103lbs at his high school. His record is 41-2. I feel utterly worthless right about now.

There really isn't a whole lot to discuss here. It's just friggin insane and it's a really cool example of defying the odds. Enjoy!

Crazeeee lol I sometimes have thought about what if I was in a wheelchair.. what could I do.. etc etc. And you know what? Sometimes my imagination of myself in a wheelchair is a much more successful and respectful person than what I can imagine without a disability..

although he's probably somewhat stronger than his opponents (same weight without limbs) and they certainly aren't used to this kind of fighting.

I guess like scorch said, the opponents just aren't used to this kind of match. while looking at the pic gallery on SI.com I chuckled at one http://i.cnn.net/si/multimedia/photo_gallery/0804/wrestling.dustin.carter/images/076182173.jpg that's gotta hurt for the other guy.

It would suck. Edit: @TheDarko (above) I agree with you that I wouldn't want to do it, but I don't agree with you that it's ok to be insensitive about it, as you are being.

But actually he can win because the other fighters in his class are much skinnier and weaker. So what this goes to show is that in wrestling your arms and legs aren't really important and the more powerful your torso, the better. If you use it right that is. And that's why this guy is actually impressive.

Just because you view people like as being weak and frail... But with a record like that, I'm pretty sure he'd school me in a wrestling match.

Its a lose lose situation here, if you win then you're the guy who beat up a cripple kid if you lose then ... well you lost and that goes on your record. People would just go for the one that makes them look better and lose to the guy, I know I would, especially because it probably helps his self esteem too. Maybe at first people went easy on him, but I highly doubt any self respecting athelte is gonna let someone get all the way to 3rd in the state just because they're a handicap.

In no case should athletes play sports to lose, they always go for the win. This armeless dude wanted to be a normal athlete, proving he is just as good, and it is great disrespect to take it easy on him because he is crippled. If you win, you're better and if you lose, you're worse. And there's nothing more to that.

Some one encouraged this guy. Some one taught him to wrestle. Some one wrestled with him and like the OP well put title implies, he never quit. It is not often I feel pride for us humans. I know you will never read this but thanks Dustin, wherever you maybe, keep wrestling! An epic: FIGHTING! form me.
