anger problems sound silly because they are stupid. go to a therapist and be completely honest and objectively analytical about the situations in which you get angry. you will sound stupid to yourself, get angry at yourself, and then cease to be angry, hopefully.

Just make sure there aren't too many people around when you do it. (At uni, I woke up several neighbours after bellowing the word "FUCKKKKK" when I realised I missed my 9am lectures...) Edit: After reading the post above, I must agree completely. Anger problems (including my own!!) are utterly retarded. I personally f-ing hate it when people (including me!!) get pissed over nothing.

You just need to find activities that relax you. The way you described your problem , it seems that there are parts of your life wich are very stressful to you. One good advice I can give you is to carry around some music that makes you feel good. It can be punk, reggae, hiphop, classic and even hardcore rock music as long as it makes you feel good.

If the incident in the first post isn't common, I wouldn't worry about it. We all have those "breaking points;" A similar incident happened to me when I was younger. I just couldn't control my anger and now my bedroom door has a crack down the middle. You identify your need to break things as your way of calming yourself down, but I don't think it has anything to do with breaking things. I think it has to do with power and control. When you break something, you're exercising power and control over something. I've never met anyone who's upset about having power or control. This is why most defense mechanisms against anger and stress revolve around exercising power and control. For example, people daydream to avoid stress because when they're in their "happy place" they're in absolute control of everything. To be perfectly frank, I don't think it sounds like you have an actual problem with anger. I think you're having trouble dealing with anger. They're not the same. Try to find another outlet for your anger. If that means going to your "happy place," or carrying around a funny picture you can look at, or even going to seek therapy individually or in a group setting, do it. Eventually you'll actually break something important that will cost you more than what you broke, and you'll deeply regret it.

Aside from stopping whatever is making you angry (when that's possible), I think the best things you can do when you're angry are: 1. exercise, with the goal of burning off all that extra energy you get from being angry and tiring yourself out; 2. focus on something else, like a game or a movie, so that you gradually forget about whatever made you mad; and/or 3. remind yourself of all the stupid things you've done when you're angry, as a way to avoid doing another stupid thing. Again, I believe it's very important to always deal with something that's making you angry, although you'd probably want to wait until you've calmed down before dealing with it (so that you don't act stupidly and make things worse). But since that's not always possible, I think the above 3 methods are good ways to deal with or get rid of your anger when there is nothing you can do about it. 1. i do that too ![]() 2. yep, do that too! 3. do that too :D 4. May I add it's really a great idea to, as well as count in your head, just breathe REALLY deep and slow. I tend to find that your rage is almost carried out of your in your long breaths. ps I have a problem with rage too sometimes, it's responsible for me having to stop karate with broken knuckles . Though I deal with my anger much better now, and it's mostly due to breathing properly .

Now, I'm trying to be more relaxed about things, letting them go, and if something upsets me, I try to see why teh f*ck am I so angry about, and then let it go, and do like Bill said, watch a movie, or play games and stuff. .

The thing I found most helpful came mostly from my MENTAL state, that is, my thinking and attitude. What I did was that I took the time to think over the problem whenever I teetered on that fine line between anger and outrage. Of course, I found myself twitching and balling my fists a lot, but some physical output is to be expected. Still, it's actually quite helpful you're able to put your problem in different perspectives, meaning you take your problem and compare it or turn it into a plus instead of a minus. If you get angry because you lose 10 games of starcraft, for example, at least be grateful you're not a D- newb. I'm having trouble finding the words to help you with your problem though. I'll add something later if I can articulate it. Damn, I'm actually getting pissed off because I can't find the words to help you with your anger problems. Ironic, isn't it? -_-

They provide limitless hours of entertainment and hilarity. They also do whatever the fuck you ask unless you say "act normal" or "think with your head." They cant do that stuff so well. What has a mentally handicapped kid done... sheesh. The gull of some people. Also, dogs ATTACK people sometimes. Mentally handicapped people NEVER attack. They "wrestle" from time to time but that again, is the hilarious entertainment I was referring to earlier. Just tickle them and tell em the only way to get out of it is if they can properly pronounce the capital of sweden. Fuck I had so much fun doing that.

You fire the bullet, and that energy is going to go out somehow. The barrel of the gun may get messed up, but the energy will escape. That's what my anger is like, this energy gets inside me instantaneously, and it has to come out--if it doesn't it nags at me for a long time. The first step to recovery is indeed admitting to yourself that you have a problem. The second step is dealing with this problem. Judging by the above qoute, it seems like you think that there is nothing you can do about you breaking things, how it is all inevitable. What you must do is admit that you can fix it, if you want to. If you honestly believe that you can't fix it on your own, then you should seek medical aid. Personally I think it is a matter of willpower and self-control. Look yourself in the eye in the mirror and promise yourself that the next time you get really angry, you will control yourself and you will not allow yourself to act in a way you will later regret. Don't see it is as a mere promise, see it as an acknowledgment of the fact that you will control yourself next time. You need to be as convinced of yourself, as I am right now that you can do this. If you allow there to be even the slightest amount of doubt, you will not succeed. But you will succeed, I believe.

I try to avoid pepsi/drinks like that. I drink a lot of water. Bowel movements look normal. Not real dark, not too light. No sports, I try to go to the gym though. My sleeping schedule is completely fucked right now, bed time ranges from midnight to 7 a.m. 7 a.m. is really rare though, anything after 2 isn't really that common. No sleep disturbances unless I happened to get drunk that night/I'm at someone else's house and they have pets. (I'm allergic to practically all of them.) I don't think good is the word to describe it. It's something so much better than that. Alright I'm still unsure what can be the reason for your anger problem - if it actually is a problem. Look it might be that everything's alright with your anger since I know similar feelings in situations as you described. Then again it might be that there's more than one reason. Well I do sports, I get rid of most of the negative energy that way. When I get angry I won't need to hit or break anything, I just do some shadowboxing or I run around the block or I pound the pillow for some minutes, I'm still angry after that but most of the aggression is gone. I do shadowboxing like 5-6 times every day even if I'm all positive and not angry at all. It wasn't always like that, I remember there was a time when I felt a great need to break/smash stuff - I just never did it. Today I don't remember feeling such a strong need ever since I do sports almost every day. So I think doing sports and something like the above mentioned methods to relieve aggression could be the solution for you, or at least makes it better. Still I would ask you to change your sleeping schedule to normal, like 11 p.m to 2 a.m max. 3 a.m should be an exception and anything after that is critical. I think it won't solve the anger problem (w/e it really is) but you'll feel much less stressed and you'll have a clearer mind. It's also much healthier to say the least. Something just came to my mind, a few days ago my doc told me I might be incompatible to lactose. Now since the moment I'm leaving all lactose out of my eating habits I feel better, it's all going a bit easier. It might also be that (just an assumption, don't take this too serious) there might be something that is unsolved in your life and it's hammering in your head when you're angry causing your anger to grow. Your anger might get smaller as soon as you solve it. But really, this is a daring consideration and I know that. First it's better to work on the above mentioned stuff. So far, I wish you good luck at finding a solution.
