No Country For Old Men is unbelievably good, the scene with the coinflip was just magnificent.

Saw Michael Clayton today, was pretty good for the most part except like, Michael Clayton didn't actually do any cool stuff to deserve the ending imo, he just got the money handed to him and busted everyone up without doing anything OMG SPOILERS. So the story wasn't A+ for me, but the acting was. I watched Juno, No Country for Old Men and Michael Clayton in the span of two days and to be honest I'm not super impressed by any of the three. Maybe that's because I just watched Boogie Nights and that was truly amazing. But I guess if I had to pick right now I'd pick no country because it was exactly like reading Grapes of Wrath although it's a book I didn't particularly enjoy. I didn't like how the story ended and thought there was too much symbolism and not enough stuff happening.

I didn't think much of the last 20 minutes of No Country for Old Men which is a shame because I'm a big Coen brothers fan. Will give it another viewing before the ceremony though and hopefully will enjoy it more.

Only film I've not seen is hopefully the best one, There Will be Blood. DDL is just a superb actor and this film wouldn't even have to be in my top 3 DDL films to be the best of the Oscar nominees.

For me the best film not nominated at all is The Great Debaters.

hmm i just saw the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford

very impressed, y this didnt get a best picture nod instead of michael clayton or juno kind of blows my mind. in fact it makes me want to puke in a bucket and drown myself in it

altho i didn't like casey in gone baby gone, him as robert ford was impeccable. altho i think it was one of those roles he just fell naturally into perfectly, maybe because of physicality traits. not sure i still have mixed thoughts about this..

the soundtrack was really nice too, i am listening to it now

overall a very moving picture. saw it a few nights ago and it is still running through my mind.

Best Actress: Ellen Page (Juno)

Supporting Actress: Ruby Dee (American Gangster)

Best Picture: No Country for Old Men
