1st oif June relaxtions are in, so restaurants and bars are opening
We had a huge huge protest against racism in our capital where people definitely were not distancing so I hope for our sake that indeed the virus is terrible at spreading outside.
if not we got a big problem on our hands in 2 weeks or so.
edit:
typo fixed.

We had a huge huge protest against cacism
I really hope that's a typo and I don't have to lose the little faith in humanity I have left

I just did my Covid-19 test. Negative and also no anti bodies. The chance of a positive was extremely small, and even the testers seemed to know which way this was going. I still had to do it to return to work. At least it took just 5 minutes to take it and 10 minutes to get the result.

There have been reports about covid not spreading that well outside and as far as I know things such as mass gatherings at say Florida beaches hasn't led to huge spikes over there so I am a bit hopeful.
Nevertheless it still is kinda meh.
The good thing is that you can call in for a coronavirus test now here in the Netherlands, quite a few people made use of the hotline (appearently 25% who called didn't have corona related symptoms so well there is that).
It was a typo btw obviously.

There is typically not that much contact between strangers at beaches, and it is outside in hot weather. I have added closing beaches to my personal list of bullshit Corona measures.
Maybe a big beach party with dancing and lots of alcohol would be different, but that is another issue imo.

cacism: the doctrine that the feline race is inferior to all others. I'd protest it too, but probably not a great time right now.
To that point I guess, I went to a protest and sorta hope giving people larger personal bubbles is a thing that sticks around after covid-19 is under control.

Lol that story, masking a party as a demonstration or making some kind of combo event...
I understand them, many people have had their lifestyle turned on its head. I think we need young that people are pushing the return to normal life as a counterweight to scared and restrictive authorithies. It is a moderately contageous virus which is pretty good at killing people in the risk groups, not the end of the world.
It would surprise me if an event like that makes an impact on the infection rate at this point. It was outside after all, and we know how to stop outbreaks now.

Oh my. Since protests are allowed to have more ppl than festivals or other gatherings, I fear this will be happening all over the place now

Looks like Mexico, Brazil, and India are the countries that seem to have a growing infection. Brazil looks explicitly bad, and the other two nations show every sign of underestimating case loads. US is moderately better by virtue of improved results in New York. Same source as always.
So, all in all, what do folks think about Sweden's coronavirus "experiment" and the results thereof? As the first Europe/NA wave recedes, was that break with standard disease control guidance the right call, a major blunder, or something in between?

Sweden (10mln people) has four times deaths of Norway, Denmark and Finland combined (~16 mln people). So from that point of view it seems like a failure. I dont have detailed data on measures implemented in each of those countries and it is not clear yet how serious will be the economic impact from all of this. Time will tell if Sweden economy will be doing better long term.

There is more to the story. They are investigating if the virus came very early to Sweden, and if you exclude Stockholm, the situation is much more comparable.
Not locking up their citizens and allowing kids to go to school also has value, other countries know more about what works and what doesn't because of Sweden.
That being said, Tegnell has admitted they should have done more in the beginning, but I am not sure what. At least being very careful with their residences for old people and maybe closing bars and banning events with larger groups.
I am not sure which country found the perfect sweet spot.

We're six months at the very least from knowing that. It all depends on if there is a second and third wave and how those waves behave.

The goal was to prevent healthcare systems getting overwhelmed, not to minimize the number of deaths (thousands of people die every year to the flu and nobody cares about that) so it was a 100% success.
