Pleasantly surprised here, even if it’s broken clock stuff, or a matter of some folks finding a backbone out of nowhere.

Many politicians on many levels of government from both sides of the aisle were 100% in alignment with enforcing them. If everyone in the USA gets on board it can work. Instead of Sesame Street ... Canada had The Hilarious House of Frightenstein. It was way better than Sesame Street. One problem is that everyone can just pirate everything. With 80" TVs being under $500 any one can have the theatre experience at home. Anyone can just create their own movie nights. Who needs a theatre? That's bunk. The Canadian film industry was fairly anemic until we started becoming a production location for Hollywood. I can remember Sesame Street. I've never heard of Frightenstein until today. When we used to have video stores, American films were not categorized as foreign films. We inhale American culture. Maybe the only place it was truly successful was on the radio due to enforced CanCon percentages. There's been a few hit shows out of CBC like he Red-Green Show, but these days the best Can-Con comes up independent of all that those protective rules (Letterkenny).

I do remember mr dressup, littlest hobo, reboot, some cartoons once I got YTV. And some shows like T and T, cold squad, due south and Da Vinci's inquest and of course SCTV reruns. But the production was always questionable. You know have Schitt's creek along with letterkenny, Totally agree with oyur overall point, just wanted to throw out some more gems because I had also never heard of House of Frightenstein, maybe just not old enough since wiki says it came out 1 season (130 episodes WTF?) in 1971.

But the reality is our production was a small drop in a giant ocean of US content that inundates Canadian culture.

I don't know that I have met an American that heard of a Canadian show, whereas we know their shows as well as they do.
