Nice to know folks are happy to crowd fund this guy’s legal defences...

I think they'll be hard-pressed to get 1st degree charges as video shows the initial altercation being aggressive by the party that ended up getting shot in the head. That was a dumb move on his part to try and attack the guy with an AR, but the first dumb move happened when the kid decided it was a good idea to go across state lines into a riot/protest area with his weapon. It wasn't his property and he purposefully put himself into a poor position. I suspect the best they'll get is manslaughter, but since the DA decided to go for 1st degree they'll get nothing. The DA is extremely over-zealous with the charges.
Also, blue lives matter is so idiotic. The kid fits right in with the folks on the force who espouse those views.

Wisconsin law provides for a 1st degree reckless homicide, whereas in other states, 1st degree murder always requires direct intent. So while I doubt the 1st degree intentional honored sticks, the reckless one has a much better chance

I have no clue how the law works.

It's way too transparent. If they're going to run with that until election day they'll get walloped. Not only that if Biden does win how is he going to govern at all with such a strategy? Hi I'm vanished then poof I'm here, do all this stuff I want now, what was that you voted for me solely because I was not Trump, hmmm, well doesn't matter do XYZ anyways. Hillary basically ran the I'm not Trump gig last time and it flopped hard. Looks like DNC and Biden haven't learned a thing.

'It appears' like the guy who got shot in the head initiated the conflict, which is why I say manslaughter at best. After that happened the mob chased the kid and he did what anyone else would do when there's an angry mob after you (I'm not giving justification to any action, merely positing what most people would do in the situation he found himself in) - he shot the guy trying to grab him who had a handgun present, he shot the guy who was hitting him in the head with a skateboard while he was on the ground, etc. I don't see a jury convicting him with those circumstances and those charges. Not a chance.
The DA is playing politics and crowing to the mob. Those charges are way overboard.

That sounds likely to me, his age probably helps him avoid the maximum as well. Generally I would say both sides would want to avoid trial but now with how politized this is maybe both want it out there. Such a horrible situation with horrible consequences, no winners just different degrees of losing.
He's going to go to trial in Kenosha. No way they convict for 1st degree. I lived in Milwaukee for 4 years, trust me on this. (This was Paul Ryan's district)

In Wisconsin can they charge with multiple degrees and than the judge or jury will pick the charge that they believe fits? Or does the DA have to pick for example murder one and it is that or freedom?
The latter. The jury will decide on each charge individually whether guilty or not guilty. The judge has leeway only in sentencing (assuming no mandatory minimums...another bullshit thing, but I digress).
(Think of a judge as the referee)

He won't do any time based on the charges the DA is presenting (maybe possession). No one is going to convict for first degree with this:
McGinnis said he did not hear Rosenbaum and Rittenhouse exchange any words, and said Rosenbaum was trying to get Rittenhouse’s gun, prosecutors said.
Huber has a skateboard in his right hand and appears to be reaching for his gun with his left as the skateboard makes contact with Rittenhouse’s left shoulder, prosecutors said.
Huber looks to be trying to pull the gun away from Rittenhouse, and Rittenhouse rolls to his left side, prosecutors said. The gun is then pointed at Huber’s body as Rittenhouse fires one round, prosecutors said.
Grosskreutz appeared to have a handgun in his right hand when he was shot, prosecutors said. + the video evidence.
Manslaughter at best, but the DA is in a rock and a hard place. Charge to the crimes and he will get pilloried, go for the throat with the first degree stuff he/she likely knows has no chance of sticking and deal with the fall out 8 months from now or whatever. Pure politics.

I don't know, would you call the cops if you were taken hostage, robbed at gun point, or a myriad of instances of bodily harm? Substitute cop with whatever institution or person you think is more reputable. You still expect "good guy" with gun to come save you, right? What about the military? Good guy with guns? Like I don't know how people can disconnect the two. When someone is shooting up a mall or school what do they do...they call presumably, the good guy with a gun to come save the day. I don't know man...

I guess this depends on where you are from and what you look like... If you're the kind of person the cops might want to protect, then yeah.

"Good guy with a gun" refers to an armed civilian, like this dumbfuck kid who just murdered two people.
