If anything, stuff like 'age' is less important for high profile jobs because the candidates are under such scrutiny that you can evaluate them on individual metrics like 'how good is his health' rather than generally true assumptions on their health based on age. This is all well and good if you get rid of the existing age requirement for running for office. But insofar as there is already an age requirement, it makes absolutely no sense that a 34-year-old is disqualified from running for presidency but a 70-year-old isn't. Age-related cognitive impairment was not something the founding fathers knew about when they made the rules, but given what we know now, the rules should be changed to account for it. And I don't think "looking sharp" is good enough. Even a mild degree of cognitive impairment should quite frankly be disqualifying for a job as mentally demanding as the presidency, and most people with mild cognitive impairment still appear to function totally normally at first glance in situations where they aren't being evaluated clinically (especially when they're relatively affluent and have a good support network). Appearing to be mentally capable under the very controlled conditions of broadcast television is not a good enough indicator of someone's cognitive function.

And yeah you could also get rid of this 34-year-old thing.

The vast majority of people support Bernie with the "moderate" Oregonians splitting between Klobuchar and Beto. I think Biden's high numbers right now are just from politics noobs wanting Obama back after Trump. Once the Bernie machine gets fully ramped up, I expect a lot of people to drop out. Bernie is like this ultimate fusion of having all the benefits of an "establishment" candidate while also keeping all the benefits of being a ideologue/populist. Fundraising like crazy. I honestly won't be surprised if Bernie ends up completely destroying this primary. I'm going to go hard for Bernie this time. Also, "hindsight is 2020" is perhaps the best Bernie slogan ever.

Definitely someone young. Obama picked Biden because he was young and needed the appearance of a balanced experienced head, whereas Bernie has the opposite requirement. Beto oozes charisma, and realistically doesn't have anywhere near the level of experience, so it'd be a good match.

Its kinda long, so I didn’t post the whole thing. But the tweets at connected, so you can just click the first one and read them all in order. One more thing, Sam does touch on the “Bernie Bro” complains by saying that the campaign did have a “frat house” feel to it. You can see him respond to some specific questions about that if you go to the replies to that specific tweet. I do hope Sanders can reel in that specific problem this time around. Because I believe it really hurt him, giving my discussions with women who would have gladly voted for a far left candidate, but didn’t like Bernie.

I've got a vague feeling that Beto has some more unknown skeletons in his closet, but that's just a hunch. Gotta be honest, I've had the same fear regarding Beto. Part of me also thinks someone who dug up something truly juicy would have decided to hold on to it until some presidential run.

Like sexual abuse acusations by staffers (I don't give them much credit, but they will start raining down on the primaries) or partying on the soviet union shirtless?
