where the fuck are you living that insurance + gas on three cars comes to under 1000 a month. not to mention under 300 a month for rent/uti, WTF
|
Right now, I'm in Tennessee, so rent is cheap. I also live with three other guys cause I'm still in college, so it's pretty cheap. $700 for a duplex split between four guys = a little under $200.
Also, most of that money for cars is for my 2006 Honda Accord I just bought last May. It's $250 a month because I put down a huge down payment. The insurance for this car is pretty expensive actually. $500 a month because of my "bad" driving record. The other $250 is for two project cars I have. One isn't street legal so I don't even have insurance on it. The other car isn't even driveable because it's in the shop getting all fixed up right now, so I don't pay insurance for it. It's a 2002 350Z being converted, but the details are a secret :-p
Still, it doesn't matter where I live. If I were to go back home to NYC where I'm originally from... I'd be making more money. I was getting paid $15.50 at Circuit City last summer compared to the average $8-9 I get paid here in Tennessee. Crazy, I know. To the average Tennessee adult, $10 is like a career salary.

what type of career? -.- no engineer or medic wouldbe making that
|
There's not much of those careers here anyways. I don't know alot about those specifically, but here's the comparison of what I do know
NY Nurse starts at $60,000 while TN Nurse starts at $40,000 NY Accountant starts at $50,000 while TN Accountant starts at $25,000 NY Store Manager starts at $35,000 while TN Store Manager starts at $15,000 NY School Teacher starts at $40,000 while TN School Teacher starts at $20,000
So basically, it's about half the salary. Of course, it's not always like that, but if you find a TN Accounting job for over $35,000 you can pretty much consider yourself lucky to be working for a big company right off the bat. Pretty much, most of the rich people around here own their own companies. I use the term rich loosely though because since everything around here is so much cheaper, you can live decently for the salary you get paid.

lol engineer or medic sure make over that a month, i dont know how do u manage to work that much + college but O_o? funny debate between theosex and likeaboss which turned out from a tranny to a car tuning knowledge. All cars have potentiels its only that the new cars(2001-now) doesnt have as much aftermarkets parts as the old cars(1980?-2000)
Back to topic Model: Honda Civic SI 2dr Coupe 1.6L SoHc (127HP Approx. 113t/lbs) Mods: All stock beside teinted window, koni spring/shock + h&r spring coming up, the typical h/i/e coming up soon, and rims. All that pieces have already been bought just waiting for delivering since i bought it today :/ Good stuff for daily drive and not expensive. NO current pix on the car but it kind of looks like this

That's exactly what I was trying to say. That's part of the reason why I'm getting tints, speakers, and rims installed first. Also because it's starting to get hot as fuck in TN so I need tints, speakers because I have been planning on putting them in there for a long time but I've been procrastinating it, and rims because I got some stupid stock hub caps on them now that make it look like a grand-ma car. It just so happened that I was at Circuit City getting my system installed when I saw this thread. He's arguing with me like I'm just stupid ricer when I'm in the same boat as him. I hate ricers too. Just some misunderstanding I guess, oh well. Not a big deal to me.
And as for working "this much" it's not really that much at all. I take corresponedence courses right now, which means I actually only do them online. Since I'm the type that likes to learn by myself anyways, I can get a class project done in a day which means I only spend about 1-2 (3 tops) hours a day for one class. That leaves me with the rest of the day to do whatever I want. No more "class from 9-2 or whatever, then homework" crap. I would say I only work about 40 hours a week total anyways. Three years ago when I was a freshman, I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me it was possible. I did alot of digging around and I found a setting I am comfortable at for atleast right now until I get an accounting degree. Maybe it's just me being so time efficient comming from NYC, but it's not so bad. I have time for school, work, social life, video games, and my girlfriend. Not a bad deal at all.

Man it's amazing how much the new civic models look better than the old ones. When my sister told me she was getting a civic I was sure she was joking because the most important aspect in the car for her is the looks but then when I looked at the new models I was really surprised how much better it looks than the old shit box called civic. The 4 door actually looks very nice now and the coupe looks like a racing car.

2006 RX-8 Shinka Edition W/Nav and various MAZDASPEED upgrades.

I actually prefer the old type civics for several reasons. My favorite is the '93 Hatchback Civic. I was going to get that instead of my Accord, but I couldn't find one in time.

No current picture handy, but I drive a 2003 Civic EX (manual).
Oh and check my mods: a Darwin fish (was silver, now faded to black) and a Thundercats sticker.
I'm tha 1337 modd3r. Now I'm saving up for fuzzy dice on the rear-view.
Speaking of Civics and how the look has changed, yeah I like the look from a few years ago, but the new ones are a little too weird looking. But yeah, in the early 2000s the look got a lot better I think.
