Should we blame the water bottling company for bottling the water?

hmmm. didn't a coffee company get sued for making coffee hot without the proper warning labels? i think people need to know of the dangers of drinking too much water now.

Yes exactly, so don't blame the radio station for her actions!

Yeah, and maybe food companies should put warnings such as "Please don't consume more than 145 serving sizes in a 2 hour period" or something else.
I mean it is all unfortunate and everything... but pointing fingers in this situation isn't "just" in my opinion.

Haha man I love you! Its great to discuss something and not have it deteriorate into a flame war
Ok, this is my take on your example about Blizzard:
Blizzard manufactures WOW and sells it to whomever wants to purchase and play it. In a similar fashion, watter bottling companies sell bottled water to whomever. Agreed? Neither will be liable if a person dies or gets injured because of either excessive playing or excessive drinking. Why is this? Because neither company is *forcing* the consumers to do so. There is no compulsion, no reward, nothing. It is left entirely up to the consumer.
This competition was different though. A reward was being offerred, and that was direct compulsion. See the difference?
Were your example true, a lot of companies would be in a lot of shit. Gun manufacturers would be the first to be screwed. What about automobile companies? I mean, a lot of people die in car crashes. And so on and so forth.....you get the drift.

if you drink 2-3 litre of water in a very short time, it is UNEVITABLE do die, the amount of water depends on ypur type.

This happened a long time ago in USA if i remember because a doctor told a pacient to drink as much water as she could (she had to put down on weight or something) and her cell exploded.

I love how almost every reply with a quote is from Wikipedia... as though you have just learned something and you are 10x more credible... rofl o.O

Water Poisoning.... To die by water poisoning is to suck at life.

compulsion - an irrational need to perform some action, often despite negative consequences reason - a intellectual faculty by which HUMANS seek or attain knowledge or truth ; reason is the power to think rationally and logically and to draw inferences ; (it defines us as humans) Gandalf , i see in your post christian reasoning : blame Satan for everything worse that a human does(even towards himself) ;so i'll ask you where is the freewill God gave us? (yes i wikip.ed)

I thought it was common knowledge that drinking too much water too quickly can die? I remember reading about that in I can't remember where but it was fucking shit hot so this woman drank loads of water to avoid dehydration and ended up killing herself.
Also with an official event like that, you would expect the organisers had researched it properly and told contestants (probably just average joe's) that drinking lot of water can be lethal, and they might not actually want that Wii as much they thought at first.............
|
I see your point Gandalf, but I can't agree.
If you take this on a slightly smaller scale, it happens with other things too.
As I said, in WoW, you get in-game-rewards for playing more. There are billions of contests on cola, water, soda, etc, that offer some sort of price if you send in x caps of beverage, or if you find the lucky something in the bag of product x.
So even though they're not flat-out telling them, they are encouraging their consumers to... consume more of their products. And if someone were to die from over-dose of pringles, nobody would blame pringles.
This was more straight-forward, but I don't see it fair that you could blame a person/company that did not force those people to do what they did in any way. It's free will. Sure, on some level the radio station is to blame. But that woman is to blame on a much higher level. Like 60 or something.

This is really sad....But on a side note, I'm starting to see a connection between god and wikipedia...

I kinda just had time to skim over 5 or 6 posts on each page. This sucks... Honestly the radio station shouldnt be blamed for this because like someone said, its not like the first thing that comes to mind when we think water, is DEATH. we think, water makes up like 75% of our body. so its good for you? But the whole idea of the contest is completely idiotic. Not being alowed to take a piss... that part really does make it a bad contest. I could see Drinking the most water, piss or not But the not urinating part is probably what really made it fatal, she wasnt able to get rid of the excess water content so it just basically soaked into her like a sponge. The Radio Station really should think through their Contests much more thoroughly.

Actually i do believe it was a fast food chain, that got sued because some lady bought a cup of coffee through the drive through, and while she was driving away she spilled it on her lap Scaulding her. i dont know if it caused an accident or what other details but im 90% sure about this.

People need a warning label that reads: "warning: dont be stupid".

mcdonalds was sued by an asshole because he burned himself when drinking coffee that he just bought and was obviously hot. he won and that is why there is this label that warns us that the contents of your styrofoam cup and apple pie (or whatever pie) is not cold, but hot.
