Today I have a huge announcement to make. Continuing on from our expansions into LoL, HotS and CS:GO, we are bringing a new team into our family: TL WoW. Not only is this a big step for us, but it also marks our continued interest in expanding the ESPORTS scene as a whole. What other game could it be? World of Warcraft is the perfect game to expand into. Seeing as we already have a StarCraft team, it’s only logical that we continue to develop into the Blizzard community.
At Team Liquid we have always prided ourselves in being at the forefront of ESPORTS, from our Brood War days, to the rise of Starcraft 2 and more. Once again we are the first to step into a new era, and we are doing so in typical Liquid fashion: our WoW players will be none other than the teamliquid strategy team, led by our very own Liquid`TLO and Liquid`Snute who will serve as officers and main tanks.
What makes this announcement so different and special from any other team we have picked up is in how we will compete. WoW is a deep and complex game, but frankly the mechanical requirement to play it is too low for it to be considered a worthy ESPORT, especially with the way it is played now. We are going to change that.
Everyone knows that StarCraft is in fact the hardest game ever, period. It's obviously much harder than any MMO, that fact can't be argued. An average StarCraft player has hundreds of APM, while only about 50 are required to play WoW. This means that our players will be able to easily control multiple characters at once, bringing a level of depth and competition never seen before in any MMO. In fact, the Protoss players can probably do that while also proxy 2 gating random scrubs on ladder. WoW may not be a deep, competitive ESPORT yet, but we are confident that with or approach we will show the world just how truly skill-based the game can be.
Snute and TLO will lead the charge, moving on from StarCraft to this new, great adventure. Our Strategy team will back them up on their own characters, playing different roles depending on the race they played in StarCraft:
Zerg players will become our tanks. They are used to ramming into problems while they remain safe.
Terran players will become DPS: no matter what class (or StarCraft race) they choose, somebody else will be doing more damage and therefore need nerfing.
Protoss players will become healers, as they have mastered the art of being able to play games by pressing only two buttons.
With this setup we are confident we will quickly rise at the top of the competition. WoW is a very, very alive gaem; in fact, it's the most played game worldwide. The competition will be fierce. Despite this, faceless Korean overlords haven't taken over yet and for some reason don't seem to be interested in doing so, so we expect to eventually come out on top.
As a final word, we would like to give special thanks to SC2John for leading the way into this new chapter of Liquid`ESPORTS. If he hadn't lost his StarCraft passion and hadn't ragequit TL Strategy to play other games, we probably wouldn't have made it this far.

A word from Liquid`Snute and Liquid`TLO:
Before playing StarCraft in fact I played WoW for a period, so it feels great to finally go back to the roots. To be honest, my true passion was never with microing swarmhosts, it's all about spamming sunder armor and assigning icons to monsters. After all this SC2 practice, surely controlling 5 WoW characters will be a breeze. -Liquid`Snute
I am incredibly excited for this new adventure! To be honest, I used to play WoW like this to improve my mechanics and multitasking in SC2, so I feel like I couldn't be more ready. Also, a whole new game means a whole new set of obscure facts to learn and use to impress the ladies, gotta love that. -Liquid`TLO
Zerg players will become our tanks. They are used to ramming into problems while they remain safe.
Coming from myself who played Zerg in Bw + SC2 as well as Toss, this is a inaccurate statement.
I was a 2800 2;2/3;3 ranked Arena Ret Pally as well as one of the top 50 Ret pallies global wide on servers. Sure I could tank, it wasn't hard, you really do only push 2 buttons (unless the game has changed for Prot Pallies), but I also had Mage, SPriest, Ele/Enh Shammy, Rogue, Feral and Boomkin druids but never once had a singled out Tank or healing character.
How did I know this was fake? That frontpage banner is awful. Everytime TeamLiquid has announced new game their banner is fucking cool. This looks like somebody photoshoppin for the first time
That threw me for a second since it's still March 31st here, didn't even think about April Fools until it got to the part with TLO and Snute switching over, hahaha! Nice one TL :D
I hear the online card game Pay'n'GrindCraft has a pretty thriving eSports scene right now. Also, consider dabbling in competitive iOS Bejewelled, I hear that's where all the eSport dollars are at right now

This made me laugh so hard, especially the Protoss part, but yeah, pretty sure this is kinda of 1st April joke.
wow first i was the best heroes player before liquid got a heroes team and i wasnt on it. now i was the best wow player before liquid wow guild and i get skipped. RIP loyalty
great job TL, you rustled the jimmies of a WoW System Designer with this April Fool post hahaha, even tho from the article it sounded like TL was going to do compete for world 1st PVE instead of Arena
I'm really looking forwards to the opportunity, as a former protoss player, to play a holy paladin, resto druid, and disc priest at the same time for our mythic raids. I've already had my equipment shipped by our sponsor, and should be speed leveling shortly.
Quite amusing, though I was kinda hoping it would be a sendoff of WoW arena pvp (maybe zerg ling/bling/muta = beastcleave, SH = double healer, protoss = spellcleave, etc. )

I appreciate the love <3. I'll be back in a limited capacity to edit stuff for now, but I'm still taking a break from SC2 until further notice.

Unfortunately we can't make jokes about something that's actually going to be a thing.
Nazgul told me Steve has been looking into it for a while before the Curse Liquid merger and that it would be best to choose a different game.

I dont get it. Why would TLO switch to WOW? I understand Snute, he's clearly underperforming in SC2 and needs a change/boost of confidence, but TLO is such a beast. I'm afraid this was not a weighed decision. Sad day for SC2 fans.
Would have been funnier to merge liquid dota and liquid legends into one mega forum for the day, called liquid'Moba to "unite the community" with some snide comments about how the two games are the same hence why the change was made, just for maximum troll. Watch the chaos as the strategy and tournament forums gets mixed together cross game lol.
I thought "WoW" was a new player. Because the players have the team name and then the player name seperated by a " ` ", whereas the teams don't. Which ruined the entire thing for me in the first place, as nothing was believable after that kind of team name once I realized that "WoW" stands for "world of warcraft" here.

This would be way better if they pulled what Blizzard pulled in WC3 with Tinker or whoever it was(where the joke was that it wasn't a joke and they actually added him to the game)
