I am Steve Perino, the General Manager for Liquid’s League of Legends team. I am so excited to announce that Liquid's expansion continues. Though we only recently launched, LiquidLegends.net, we now we extend our reach into Counter Strike: Global Offensive. This is something very close to my heart as I was a professional player for many years competing at the highest level. I was given the opportunity by Victor and Steve to find a team that represents Liquid's values and ambition using my unique knowledge of the ideal components of a great team and the scene's players.
This team was handpicked by yours truly from quite a number of potential teams, but the five players with us today—adreN, nitr0, NAF, FugLy, and Daps—possessed the key ingredients that we believe were most important. The team has a certain harmony that feels natural and sincere, which shows in their mutual respect and concern for one another. Most of all, they enjoy playing the game and care about the community and they can't wait to give back with the help of Team Liquid's established reputation. You will find the members of our new team streaming, interacting on the forums and social media, and participating and mingling in LAN Events. We want to set an example of how a professional and hardworking CS:GO team should function, and our faith in this group of five is unwavering. The players too, are all in with us, as they have set aside other commitments in order to focus on CS:GO full time. We will be implementing new practice techniques and schedules in order to elevate their play, and our coaches and analysts will be working hard with the team to ensure that we are prepared for every match.
This will be huge year for CS:GO, and I am glad that Team Liquid will be a part of it. I've known some of these guys for more than 10 years, and I know that they will not disappoint. I am proud to be the manager of both our League of Legends and our new Counter Strike: Global Offensive teams, and we hope that you will be there to watch our ascendance.
adreN • Daps • FugLy • NAF • nitr0
From Damian "Daps" Steele:
Our team is extremely excited to announce that we will be joining Team Liquid for all future matches and events! The core of our team has been together for just over 6 months and we have already accomplished a lot with our young and talented roster. We feel that being a part of Team Liquid will allow us to take our game to the next level and accomplish even more in the future. We would also like to thank Robby and Denial eSports for taking our team into their organization in 2014 and for letting us compete and show what we were capable of at the events that we attended. 2015 is the year of CSGO and our team can't wait to begin competing again in this new year with Team Liquid!
From Robby "Ringokid" Ringnalda:
Today is a sad day for me, because i have to say goodbye to a team that i watched grow. In the end of the day i am happy for the team but wish i could have watched them continue to grow. I am appreciative of all the professionalism shown on Team Liquid's part and am looking forward to working with them in the future if at all possible.
I'm unfamiliar with former Denial, are they really good, or good for an NA team? I don't play much CS:GO, but I'll definetely pick up some stickers at the next Major.
No, seriously, that was like suspected for a few days now, but this is great. Hoping to see them play and grow even bigger than what they were at Denial!

Well, though I'd quite agree with you, I'd say they're more like in-between tier 1 & 2 (at least for the ones I know), with the SC division being quite respectable (with Taeja, HerO, even though the later has a bit decreased in performance), and the former DotA squad not quite there yet, but capable of taking games of the biggest teams (7th of the Round Robin at TI is definitely not a bad result for any "non-tier 1" team, with wins against Alliance, EG, iG, DK, Empire...!).
But more than that, I think TL is a good environment for players to develop in. Okay, it's not going to work each time like that, but I like to remember how Tajea became a monster while on Liquid. If anything, Liquid helps (of doesn't hinder, depending on how you consider it) the players development.
Haha my transition from bw to cs go and literally i like Adren he helps a lot with making cs go tutorials that teaches the solo flashes and smokes during normal rush position hope they play well
New teams (LoL + CS) are nice, but can we have a dota squad back, please? I miss cheering for liquid dota. I just have a feeling with the new squads that there is nothing left for dota.
I stopped following the CS scene about ten years ago, but I feel like I'm going to start paying attention now. If only I could let 1.6 go and give the new game a chance.
But now that TL has some money to throw around, PLEASE outsource some of your webdesign. Because from a usability perspective, they're disasters (especially TL pro).
yay! Amazing news. Hope there will be a CS:GO community site and Liquipedia eventually as well. Though I know that rapidly adding more community sites isn't that easy..
Also, agreed with others in this thread that a new Dota team would be nice. Or at least somehow rejuvenating the liquiddota site, as new original content seems somewhat infrequent lately.
Never thought I would see the day where TL officially has a CS team and EG doesn't but I'm very happy to have TL support my favorite esport. Congratulations on the pick up. They are a very TL-eseque team so I am sure they will fit right in.
I used to be a regular poster here at TL but i've kinda been sucked away by CS:GO. I'm glad my favorite player/personality has joined what used to be my favorite site. Yay I get to frequent TL again!

I was pretty much the same, I posted back during the BW days, now i can come back to one of my favorite sites.
If I may make a humble suggestion to your products department -
I love wearing team shirts/jerseys (I own two TL ones), but I can rarely find them for CS teams with the roster added. I know that adding the roster is a significant risk because eSport rosters change so quickly, but it's really neat to have. I wanted a Mouz 1.6 one but couldn't find it, so I made my own! I'd be awesome to have a TL shirt with the roster on the back - any chance of that happening?

I mostly check reddit. There is also hltv.org, but the quality of posts there is even worse than reddit.
While I do like that you are now a part of CS:GO, I wonder why you went with an american team? I don't want to start a "US vs EU hurr durr" war but there is a lot of talent in Europe and TL is based in Europe as well, isn't it? Just wonder! As I said, I'm happy that you guys are now doing CS:GO
Awesome! been a TL fanboy for many years now.. Cheering on players in all games, bw, sc2, dota, hearthstone... All the recent news are making me fanboy even more! Can't wait to see what this will bring! GL HF

HLTV and Fragbite are the ones I know about. Might be more, I don't really frequent that scene all that much.
Edit, I spend most of my time on the liquid sites. So that isn't a plug for those sites, just answering the question.

Well, all the big EU players have pretty much signed contracts for the new year already since their scene is more organized and established. The last few months of the NA scene have been filled with countless instances of player-shuffling, sponsors dropping teams, other drama, etc. so it was probably more realistic for TL to find NA talent as opposed to EU at this time.

Also NA talent is cheap and has the greatest unrealized potential because most players were only playing part-time with zero sponsor support. Also, MLG X-games is coming up soon which will be huge probably.
+999 TL. So fuckin pumped to see you show csgo some respect and sponsor a deserving team of players. Don't let this oppurtunity go to waste! Make a subforum and grow the csgo scene here at TL! CS fans are a loyal bunch.

He's got a DotA2 icon as well, which is just pure irony. But he's just trolling, don't worry about him. The CS community is probably the oldest/most mature of any except SC2.

TL's office is in europe now, but it was started in america, and almost all of their pro teams are either american (LoL, Dota) or started with americans and added euros later (sc2.) They've always been more NA focussed in terms of actual contracted players~

Man, just saw on Incontrol's twitter that hes been getting into csgo as well and we all know that EG is about to pick up ex-IBP. The future for this game is looking great. I've always believed that fps games make for the most exciting esports moments all the way back to quake and that with the added element of teamplay that CS introduced it became much closer to an actual sport. I can't help but wonder if csgo is going to just keep growing and growing until its the biggest esport of all with the most staying power. CS has always been the epitome of team-oriented esports competition in my mind. For anyone who wants to see what last year was all about :
A year ago i basically stopped playing SC and started playing CS, having again a team i really want to root for and having one more reason to go on teamliquid everyday, i'm happy i have to say!

Frankly, I don't like Teamliquid's rapid expansion. For eons, it was known as the most elite Starcraft site in the net, the site where the pros hung out, feared by some for its fierce moderation. The release of SC2 changed little about that. There were also subforums for a select few other games, sure why not. It was still the same community, where everyone had once joined for Starcraft. Then Dota2 got its own separate sister site, then Hearthstone, Smash, and now LoL and CS:GO. With the fragmentation, it feels like Teamliquid lost its soul. What was once a tightly knit community with great love for Starcraft is now a multigaming team like many others, a mere site network with shared general forums. At least that's my subjective feeling.

Hey, look over there <<<<<, this is still an sc2 site and team liquid still has a bunch of great sc2 players. I think your real beef should be with the game itself and its shrinking viewership/player/fanbase.
Not sure if Liquid is trying to be an Esports club or an Esports hub, though. If the former, all the power to you, pick up more teams/players and make sure that bank account can follow. If the latter, well, then Liquid still has a long ways to go before people stop seeing it as a Liquid fansite.

Good for an NA team.. They'll never place high in anything significant internationally. Don't really understand the pickup, but good luck nonetheless.

I would really like a high quality forum here on TL. The only thing is that the csgo community is still rather small here on TL (I am referring to the csgo thread).
i am almost entirely giving up watching sc2 (and ive already stopped playing few months ago) im sick and tired of it and the stagnation that goes on there. ive transitioned into cs:go some months ago (even tho it wasn't a new transition since i was a hardcore 1.6 player) - but i love team liquid so for me this is great news. one more reason i guess to never stop checking out the site :D and now that EG Is getting the ex IBP team there's gonna be a TL vs EG thing going on there too AHAH! except that there's a lot more games to enjoy other than SC2 - and due to the fact that SC2 has possibly the smallest scene atm in professional games (much smaller than LOL, DOTA2, Heartstone and CS:GO) and at the end of the day TL is also a business and they have to think about how to keeps thing alive and going well- their expansion makes only sense.
The two things I am surprised are actually 1) why did they pick a US NA team vs a EU one (i feel there's more talent there overall in CS for sure) and 2) why they picked ex-denial which are a pretty good CS:GO team, but no top at all, they'll probably never place high in any international tournaments and even within NA there's many teams above them. To be honest when I saw mouseSpaz members leave I thought they were going to TL. Regardless, since I like TL I hope they can improve their game and step it up to compete better vs c9, mousespaz, IBP etc. within the NA scene.

I am pretty much in the same boat. I checked out csgo for a while after it was released but decided the game was too broken to be any fun and stuck with sc2 (as I was playing it since release). I pretty much can't take playing sc2 anymore since about right before blizzcon, it just feels so broken and the maps so stale. I have been pretty heavily back into playing csgo (ive been following the pro scene since the beginning) and it is great to see the steps valve has taken to not only fix the game (not completely fixed yet), but to create revenue streams via skins and stickers that have created awesome prize pools and a monetary incentive for organizations to get involved - a la teamliquid. 2015 Is going to be insane and it all starts with the MLG x-games starting in a little over a week. Wow, can't believe there will be a cs team sportin liquid blue. Insane.
Also, can't wait for liquid stickers on all my favorite guns lol. Gonna be ridiculous.

Seeing a game like CS:GO get fixed is hte only thing that gives me any real hope for Sc2. Sadly, Blizzard's attitude to the game doesn't seem to be changing.
with that said, TL has THE BEST wiki ever. So if we can get a CS:GO wiki I think it can EASILY surpass HLTV in my opinion since that site has terrible design, terrible graphics and terrible user experience overall. If TL does a nice CS:GO wiki I can foresee people mostly getting updates from stuff there.
While I'm hyped since CSGO is an awesome and I'm glad TL is supporting the community through picking up a team, I feel like this user has expressed certain valid sentiments except he missed the whole change between the BW to SC2 flood.

Guys, keep in mind that Wiki's are exactly as good as their contributors make them. While Liquipedia unquestionably has the best SC2 contributors around by a wide wide margin, it's hard to guarantee that the userbase would contribute equally to a CSGO liquipedia.
Not to say that it won't happen, just that it isn't the obvious slam-dunk move.

Yea it isnt at all. However it does offer the capability of having such a wiki. LiquidAdren for example has some excellent guides on youtube. Would be cool if he could contribute to the wiki too (guides or something).

I know what you mean, but imo the time when people concentrated on only one game as esport and ignored the others is in the past. Fans know how to appreciate quality content, great games and intense competition, regardless of the shape and form those are presented in. Also having your favorite teams branch out into different games certainly helps diversify interest and learn and see new stuff. My first encounter with CS:GO was at DH winter, it absolutely took me by surprise how awesome it was, I really enjoyed it, now with a TL team I also have a reason to follow the scene closely and watch our matches.
I don't like how we segmented our community in different sites and would love for everything to come back together under one roof. But we will have to redesign the site completely, besides can we have all of TL with all games under one roof right now? Personally would love to see one home one TL for all games and interests some day...
The amount of excited that I am is undefinable. Not even infinity can match how happy it makes me to see Liquid's continued expansion into other competitive video games. I can't wait to see what your DotA team will look like....
So from what I gather TL is quickly entering the scenes of other games but doesn't really give that much attention to existing ones? Wouldn't it be better to first focus on the ones we already have first?
Lmfao we have a LoL team and site and now a CS:GO team but no Dota team? Mad fucking jokes. But legit to see a CS:GO team either way, I'll defiantly be rooting for them if I ever see them in any competitions

Nissan is one of Curse's sponsors that came with the merger.
I hope that was the last addition for now. TeamLiquid was always a team I respected for making careful decisions and only adding players / squads that they were 100% behind. Careful and meticulous rather than fast growth.
Right now it feels like a very quick expansion, although I am sure there was a lot of detailed planning going on for months in the background. I wish each player and squad the best and hope that TL will display a level of team stability and integrity that is a rare sight on eSports usually.

Well, you guys should outsource some of your webdesign. Now you have 4 or 5 sites, all similar but yet different, with overlapping purposes, and you have to login again for every new site... From a usability perspective, it's a complete mess.
It's unclear WHERE to discuss certain topics. Suppose I want to talk about which games TL could branch into... where do I bring this up? General forum? TL pro? One of the sub-sites? It's completely unclear. And so on.

That's surprising, since CS has such a massive viewerbase. They've hit huge numbers for their latest tournies, dwarfing SC2 (which I find very enjoyable to watch).
The only problem with spectating CS is that it's so hard to get new people into it. SC2 is easy for a layperson at a barcraft to observe. Sure, they don't know everything going on but it's pretty easy to tell when armies are fighting, and if one base is getting blown up by lasers that's bad.
In CS, if you're not paying 100% attention then you will miss most of the important parts.

Not sure if Liquid is trying to be an Esports club or an Esports hub, though. If the former, all the power to you, pick up more teams/players and make sure that bank account can follow. If the latter, well, then Liquid still has a long ways to go before people stop seeing it as a Liquid fansite.
In Starcraft I don't think it's uncommon to be active here and don't like Liquid players at all.. I mean, what are all those "favourite team" icons for if it were all TL fans? :pP
Never been the game for me, but always happy to see TL expanding to new things. Best of luck to the team's players and the management staff that always seems to put in so much.
The two recent matches were added to the event calendar, albeit a bit last-minute. Will try to add them earlier, but some times we just don't know until the day of the match for CEVO/ESEA matches.
This is sensational! GO.Liquid ! Counterstrike had a huge boost in players, interest, price money and overall numbers throughout 2014 and the red upwards arrow will not stop anytime soon, exciting year and really cool to see teamliquid in the mix. I wish this team the best and hopefully this group of players step up their game and grows into being a real contender at least in the NA scene, and hopefully they manage to qualify to one of the "majors" so we can get the teamliquid stickers, that be amazing

In Starcraft TL.net was basically the go-to resource for anyone.
In all their expansion sites, the only users are basically TL.net users who liked the other games, with very little appeal to outside communities.
The TeamLiquid umbrella is basically "that Starcraft site" or "that site for Team Liquid fans".

One thing got me into watching CS and that was IEM. They had 1 match of CS and then Wc3. Didn't want to miss the Wc3 part so turned in early and slowly got interested into watching CS as well. Now it feels like everything is going on at the same time, so I stick to my shoes.
Theres a lot of room for TL to become "that coverage site" for X esport like they once were for Starcraft. The issue here is they don't seem to have enough people working on each area. Look at Dota 2 and Hearthstone. Hearthstone can't even get its broadcast event schedule straight. Dota2's section enjoys the liquidpedia site but it still doesn't have as up to date info as you'd expect. Pretty sure they need more admins to get the ball rolling instead of simply article writers which are something that matters later.
Converted to CSGO quite a while ago (from dota then SC) but not really sure these guys can accomplish a lot. Despite that will prolly cheer for them in future.
Great news! I play CS:GO recreationally so this is cool to see. My name is Theseus on Steam, using an Acer Aspire 5742g-7200. Busy day tomorrow, working in a new venue, & family is out of town this weekend for the Birkie so no gaming tonight, sadly.
