Is this just terrible luck or is he using extremely risky strategies for the speedrun? He's just been unfortunate with the RNG. The unit he's relying on, Seth, is notorious for being a powerhouse that the RNG usually favors. It's not favoring him now and he's not dealing enough damage to wreck it like usual.

I think it's a mix of those two plus the fact that if one of your soldiers dies in the game, they don't respawn next level or anything. They're permanently dead and you can't get them back again, so that makes risky strategies that much riskier... if one of his key soldiers takes a surprise hit/ critical hit (or misses his attack one too many times), then there's a good chance he could die, forcing a restart.

Is this just terrible luck or is he using extremely risky strategies for the speedrun? Most Fire Emblem speedruns have a large luck factor in terms of hitting certain stat thresholds. However, these runs usually use the most consistent and reliable characters, anyway. There is an RNG-proof way to run the GBA Fire Emblem games, though. People worked out how to run 8 by manipulating the RNG so you get all the level ups, critical hits, and dodges that you need. I know Vykan12 has beaten Ephraim Route in 1 hour 12 minutes using this way.

This just looks boring and slow, bertins own movement doesnt help either Seriously? :D I am the biggest fan of FE10 but MAN is that game long. I didn't speedrun it, but my hard playthrough took over 45 hours IIRC. I don't think it can be really done in less than 6 hours, no way in heck.
