Managed to maneuver his king to the centre and force a skewer with the knight support inevitably winning the rook and the game. i think he realized anand wasn't falling for those shenanigans. dat fantasy gg timing though indeed. ![]() I'm no expert ofc, but on stream i was listening to yesterday they discussed this game (I think) and, if I understood it correctly, RKN vs RK can be won if the king is in a bad spot from the "start", otherwise it's a draw if both play perfectly. But I dont know what applied to that game in question.

I'm getting excited by this game. Slight pressure from white as expected but the position seems quite even, but Carlsen has 1:45 (h:mm) against 0:53 on the clock which could be scary in the endgame.

But I dont know what applied to that game in question. Basically there are a handful of positions where RN can beat R, like a few key positions, elsewise it's a draw. And unlike RB v R it's not really possible to kinda pressure them into such a position. "Drawn" RB v R positions often get won because the practical problems can be quite large, but the same isn't really true with RN v R.

I imagine Carlsen looked at this at home and saw that white's attacking ideas don't really work. It looks scary though.

I think if Carlsen gets quite a simple draw this game it will massively dent Anand's confidence. I think Anand's win came from the QGD and if Carlsen has found a simple way to deal with it will be a big psychological benefit
