There's almost 0 chance of a lost for White here, so why not play on. This is classic Carlsen position stuff, making sth out of nothing. Though I still don't actually see a concrete plan for White here so far though =/

Yeah Carlsen should continue his play and Vishy should continuously hope for a draw. The worst case scenario for Carlsen is exactly what Vishy is hoping for, yet there still is a (small) chance he could win at this stage. The clock I think still doesn't matter, as it will either draw or end before then in my opinion.

I'd like to see white win after trade. Please give me a concrete line where white wins with the knight on the board and no rook. For some background information, a very similar ending appeared in Nunn's Chess Endings. Please read that book to make an informed decision.

What exactly are you trying to argue ? That if this position is play over 1000+ times there would be all draws and 0 wins for White, it that what you implied ?

What I don't understand is why people start bashing Carlsen for his tactics.
This isn't a 100% draw and even if, why should Carlsen stop to play as long as the game isn't over?

did you even read what he said?

"there's zero chance to lose here, so why not play on, magnus likes to do that"... "please show me how white wins!!!!"

Laertes, you have about four people calling you out. Please seriously reconsider your position and think about what people are saying before you respond to them.

Reading would force Laertes to have to change his argument, he really just wanted to tell everyone that he read a book on chess endgame and wants others to quote him.

FYI, a grandmaster tweeted "I ran through a line where the rooks were exchanged, and it was a win for white"

I still have no idea what's your position in the argument is =/. So you're saying Black is actually better in this position/white have a substantial chance of loosing or what ?
Edit: not account for surprise blunders of (26. Kd2) magnitude.

Oh as the poster below me clarify that you're arguing Black would be better/advantaged after a Rook exchange ? Er no comment on that - _ -

You are trying to argue that GM Anand - world chess champion - looked at the very basic idea of exchanging rooks (a position that is frankly not that difficult to analyze from there) and somehow came to the wrong conclusion that it was a losing position.

And then you are saying that the GMs who are watching this game that have also considered a rook trade and are saying it is a win for white are also erroneous.

You, however - brilliant, keen master's mind that you are - have seen through this position, and have arrived at the right conclusion that will stun the chess world.

You will never make it in chess with this attitude. It cannot happen. You are trying to reinvent physics, not iterate on it.

It's simply idiotic. If black could win with a pawn storm everyone's computer would show it within a second. The fact that the engine gives +x means that it's either won or a drawn endgame the computer doesn't understand.
