Your viewpoint is actually completely invalid because it's riddled with hypocrisies and mistruths. You do not get to stand on equal intellectual footing as the rest of us until you can start citing some science.

You're telling me that the viewpoint that sex is a function of reproduction and that all of a mammal's sexual interactions are catered to this purpose - is invalid? Is this what happens when someone shares a viewpoint that you dislike?

You insult me by calling my viewpoint invalid. You act as if yours is the only one which is "right," a hypocrisy if I've ever seen one, since we're all just debating opinions here...

And then you delegitimize me and insult me, claiming that I am ignorant and am uneducated.

You're labouring under the delusion that it's a difference of opinion; when actually science is overwhelmingly of the 'opinion' that it is very much not a choice. All opinions are not equal or equally valid.

I'm not delusional...Someone just quoted a website, APA.org, I think it was...And I quoted a paragraph right back at him.

There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay, or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation.

The key here being that "both nature and nurture both play complex roles..." I see now, though, that this is what happens when someone steps outside the "circlejerk" (as someone here aptly put it) that we've got going on here.

could you plz clarafy this for me?

why do you hate it so much that people are diffrent and like having sex who have type of body?

Let me say it ANOTHER TIME: I do not hate or vilify those that are gay. I simply disagree with homosexuality. I do not let that disagreement color my interactions with homosexuals. I am capable of restraint. I am simply sharing my viewpoint. I respect the common view. I just disagree with it.

Then you're straight up ignorant on the subject yet you're still trying to express an opinion about it. Your opinion that disagrees with homosexuality stems from a fundamental lack of understanding. There's a graph probably easily searchable on Google images that depicts "Mt. Stupid". The X axis represents understanding of a subject while the Y-axis represents willingness to opine on that same subject. "Mt. Stupid" is the bump in this graph representing people with little understanding on a subject who still opine heavily on it.

Come down off Mt. Stupid and please inform yourself properly before forming an opinion

You must really dislike me. Is that why you insult me? Whoever posted that quote about "debate being exhausted, thus leading to people insulting each other" sure has one thing right.

Your whole post is a giant insult, lol. Damn man. Cultivate some respect.

Contrary to popular belief, not all opinions deserve respect.

I'm sorry. I respectfully disagree.

Even the most vile of opinions should be respected? Someone tells you that we should kill X classification of people and you nod and smile and tell them that you respectfully disagree with their assessment?

Or do you perhaps treat them as a threat?

Choice or not, why does it matter. It doesn't to me, they deserve equal rights, just as I have rights to be my sexual preference.

It matters because whether or not its an issue of choice is one of the arguments that was presented in support of Prop 8 when it was first challenged and was raised more recently in the US Supreme Court in the equal marriage rights arguments being made there. It was also used in the UK by right wing organisations and the Church of England in their opposition to same sex marriage rights.

It doesn't mean anything but people just use it as a stupid reason that people shouldn't buy into.

I said that the primary purpose of sex is reproduction. All mammals on earth use sex as a means of reproduction. Humans are unique on this earth, but why should that change the purpose of sex? That purpose dictates the vast majority of the world's sexual preference. It might be a harsh viewpoint, but it doesn't make it any less valid.

I have been saying over and over again that any biological programming or learned behavior is overshadowed by choice...

Quit deflecting. It's advice. It's not an insult to tell someone to wise up

It's not advice. It's an insult. Just like your response. Tell me to wise up? Do you tell that to all the people who hold a non-liberal view about politics, economics, culture, religion, or any other facet of life? And if there's anything I'm deflecting, it's all the fucking insults being thrown at me left and right because this "debate is exhausted, thus leading to people insulting each other."

I'm done. Let me leave with all my dignity while you folks keep shredding away at my heels. As for the original purpose of this thread...

I still don't understand how you justify all your whining about how you feel persecuted on a forum when your views are offensive to a huge chunk of the population. You're a hypocrite basically. None of what we can say to you will change anything, but your opinions spread in politics and lead to people being persecuted in real life for liking the wrong sex.

Feel free to have all the opinions you want, but people don't have to respect you.

This whole debate has came to that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I'm_entitled_to_my_opinion

There is nothing to say in favour of homophobia except "i don't like it, and it's my opinion, and i'm entitled to it". Which is rainbow horsepoop ( TL themed yeah ) . You can't tolerate intolerance, and intolerant people should face their own intolerance, and named the way they deserve.

I support TL move, and as a straight guy who understands the pain of his gay friends, when people reject them because of something they didn't choose and should make them heppy, it makes me happy to see this logo. Kudos TL. I'd buy TL plus to show my support if i wasn't so damn poor.

All opinions are not equal or equally valid.

well, they gave multiple arguments with a solid base to them while you on the other hand keep only stating it is your opinion, which totally makes it worthless in a discusion and gives you no validity.
The harder it becomes, the more you should focus on the basics.

You have an offensive opinion about people who may be members of this community. You provide no evidence to back it up and continue to state it over and over. People provide evidence refuting your opinion, which you ignore in every way, while continuing to state your offensive opinion.

As you refuse to discuss anything and your opinion is offensive, you have left people no option but to insult you in the hopes that you will go away. You are entitle to your opinion, but you need to keep it to yourself.

It is sad that some posters seem to have an issue with gayness.

It is a good thing that TL sides with gay pride. Not to actually promote a gay way of life (and even if, where would be the harm) but to make a statement for equal treatment instead of exclusion.

You must really dislike me. Is that why you insult me? Whoever posted that quote about "debate being exhausted, thus leading to people insulting each other" sure has one thing right.

Your whole post is a giant insult, lol. Damn man. Cultivate some respect.

Quit deflecting. It's advice. It's not an insult to tell someone to wise up

It's not advice. It's an insult. Just like your response. Tell me to wise up? Do you tell that to all the people who hold a non-liberal view about politics, economics, culture, religion, or any other facet of life? And if there's anything I'm deflecting, it's all the fucking insults being thrown at me left and right because this "debate is exhausted, thus leading to people insulting each other."

well, they gave multiple arguments with a solid base to them while you on the other hand keep only stating it is your opinion, which totally makes it worthless in a discusion and gives you no validity.

Because ALL OF the posts on here are people's opinions. Look at you man! If I'm fighting for anything here, it's for you to learn a bit of respect. In not one of my posts here have I insulted people. I have opened a number of times stating that this is my opinion, and your opinion is yours, because I knew coming into this that I would get flak. Yet since this is a forum I an entitled to an opinion of my own and I felt I should share it. I'm sorry I've turned a bit to feeling instead of thinking, - it irritates me more than a little bit that all you folks can do is insult me.

I still don't understand how you justify all your whining about how you feel persecuted on a forum when your views are offensive to a huge chunk of the population. You're a hypocrite basically.

I'm bitching at your insults. You can say you disagree with me without insulting me. It's called debate etiquette. And the reason as to why I'm done? You're fucking right. It's because any meaningful debate ended 9 pages ago and has since devolved into 30+ people insulting me for my views because they haven't cultivated any respect.

respect is earned, not given.

What else do you want people to do? You don't debate or discuss. You ignore. You provide no evidence to back up your offensive opinion. What more do you want from people that you offend? Why should we put up with your opinion and not insult you if you can't back it up in any way?

We are not required to respect opinions of people who can't back them up. People can have the opinion that my girlfriend is ugly. If they say it to her face, I don't have and will not put up with them.

This is quickly turning into Internet tough guys bullying some user voicing the minority and disregarding all rules of posting and human respect. It's alright, because virtue is on their side.

"The minority doesn't deserve respect". I like how that sounds :D
