Best three digit amount I've ever spent? Right around $640 - the filing fee for my divorce.
Heart rending at the time, but it prevented all kinds of bullshit in the long run.
Best two digit amount? Pick your poison - SC2 or HotS, or both together. From the amount of time it's given me in playing and fun, the community it's introduced to me, the hours of enjoyment from eSports... seriously, pretty damn rad.
Best under $20? That's a tough one. Might be the tip I gave to the old Mayan guy that gave my ex(now)-wife and I a tour of ancient ruins on Cozumel.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent for $6 during a Steam Summer Sale. Playing that game with a friend during the summer made it the best summer of my life.

1) Used books. For $3 I bought all of James Clavell's books (my first peak into Asian culture), which got me curious into proper Japanese and Chinese art, poetry, writing and cinema. Those books started a journey of discovery which I am still on to this day, and will be with me for the rest of my life.
2) My first proper $70 knife for the kitchen. I still use it to this day, sharpen it before every time I use it, and while it is not a high end one, it fits my cooking style perfectly; humble home cooking with pretentions of elegance. I am my own greatest critic, but I prefer my cooking to those of most cheap restaurants.
3) DJ Headphones. Paid for themselves many times over by now, though at the time, I just wanted to listen to music properly... and one of the happiest moments of my life was on stage, in front of a small crowd of a hundred people, playing music I made, and seeing them dance their asses off. The feeling when seeing my passion literally move people cannot be replaced.
Those three purchases helped define me as a person, and symbolize to myself everything I hold dear; reading, cooking and music. Those have been with me for years, and have been with me at some of the highest and lowest points of my life.

In the >$20 I would say a "little" game called AI War: Fleet Command. It's not the most popular RTS, but It's definitely up there with Starcraft I/II for my personal favorite games.
There's also this blanket that I bought while I was in SeaWorld a couple years ago. It ended up being a figurative lifesaver when it came time for the night shows, allowing me to keep warm. I still have it since it's really comfy :D

best $20 was definitely sc: bw chest. best $300 was my music man sub fo sho

<15Euro We payed 15 euro (hope this still fits into the category ^^) for a whisky tour around a distillery. At first the old man giving the tour assumed we were just 3 jack-asses that wanted booze and focussed more on the german couple in the group with us. But after we started firing questions and comparisons to other whiskies et at every corner, his attention shifted more towards us, and when the tour finished he ushered us into a seperate room and for about 2 hours we talked whisky, and he gave us some amazing whiskies for no extra charge (a 40y' old one amongst m). 2 digits Starcraft. The amount of hours I've played SC1 (and BW) and the amount of fun i've had with it, the strategic thinking, the competition, my first real lasting introduction to online gaming. Money well spent ^^ 3 digits Has to be my Snowboard (Ride Society). While my other board (Ride SlackCountry) is a close second, the Society has.... so much character. It fucking trashes you down when you ride sloppily, even when it's not neccecary. But if you ride it right, damnit it goes. If you ride the side-pressure right it blasts out of every little turn, and jibs wonderfully and can still handle almost every terrain (it's a bit short for flat'ish offpiste, but hey). Awesome stuff.

April 1998. Starcraft. 40 German Mark. Lasted (if you include Broodwar) me for several thousand games and ~10 years. (That doesn't include watching Esports obviously).

350 bucks on Headphones (Hifiman HE-400). With the right amplifier they beat the sound at a concert (tested).
Also about 90 on SC:BW (everytime i see a copy, i feel like i have to buy it, thou i buy it only sometimes).

I always spend my money wisely even for all the little things so i really can't say for this 1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. Maybe some cheap booze that I bought when i was in germany rofl.
2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent.
![[image loading]](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0001DQ5YG.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V40404448_.jpg) JBL's Creature II, still sitting nicely in my room, looks as new as the day I bought it (some day in 2007). I remember it was sold at 99euro rofl.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent. i dont really spend on stuffs with that amount unless I have to (flight tickets, course fee etc) but the physical one that lasted me since 2009 is my Thinkpad T61. I have retired it now because i need a smaller one so i got a T410, love them both!!! Sad that I will probably stay with this forever because they fcking dare to change the keyboard in the newer models zzzzzzzz.

Bought a 5€ clock when I went to the army, still works just fine and its decent looking so I can even use it in 90% of the time without looking stupid.

I know I already went earlier in the thread but I thought of another really good <$20 game I bought: ![[image loading]](http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51ER9SG4ZRL._SY300_.jpg)
I ended up playing this for months and months on a competitive ladder, and eventually became #1 in the world!
