Not necessarily lyrics from your favorite songs, just interesting/good lines you like heres mine its from a Lagwagon song called Violins
"I awake with your replacement, a bottle in my grasp, in an unframiliar place, cause you put me out, the butt of a sick joke, into this ash tray life, as you come and go, cause i forgot to service you, we broke down, and you can live with my mistake, but i assume false grace, open my arms and grasp at something true..." I really like the ash tray metaphor

hmmm tough choice : "paint it black" by rolling stones is one of the best songs i ever heard. But "yesterday" by beatles is also really awesome. hmmmm lol well i prefer the beatles over rolling stones but paint it black is so fuckin awesome that i will have to say that it beats yesterday.

oops lyrics.... hmm paint it black still has pretty cool; lyrics very evil and pessimmistic "i see a red door and i want it painted black". But best lyrics of a song... hmmm(again), maybe these arent very 'cool' lyrics but imo these are my favorite. "when i find myself in times of trouble, mother mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be, and in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me speaking words of wisdom let it be, let it be." I find these lyrics kind of inspiring, maybe not so much in themselves but with the great execution of the beatles. My approach to society is kind of summed up by those 3 words, "let it be". Whenever some prick is annoying me or making fun of me i simply ignore him/her and "let it be". I have never got in to a physical fight in my life or punched someone, other then my close friends or brother. However, punching them was not out of rage and didnt result in anyone punching me back. wow is all my masculinity?

I can't put my finger on any particular song, but in my opinion the Pink Floyd has the best, most meaningful lyrics of all. ;o.

She's got smiles that it seems to me, reminds me of childhood memries. Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky.
Now and then when I see her face, she takes me away to that special place and if I stare too long, I'd probably breakdown and cry
Oh~ Sweet Child O' Mine~
She's got eyes of the bluest skies as if they thought of rain I hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place, where as a child I'd hide. And pray for the thunder and the rain to quietly pass me by.

Another band with a steady record of amazing lyrics: Genesis.
So Genesis and Pink Floyd are the two bands that will always stand out in my mind for having amazing lyrics.

Daaaaancing, with tears in my eyes, weeping for the memory of a life gone by...
|
"And If I lived a thousand times, I'd be guilty of the crime of eternal love and dedication. And If I only get one chance to know the meaning of romance, then I'am happy with my education" -You are all that I want, Twisted Siste. That one is so cute.
One of my undying favorites is however this one: "Daddy daddy come and look, see what I have found, a little ways away from here, while digging in the ground... Come away Melinda, Come in and close the door, it's nothing just a picture book they had before the war. [...] Oh daddy daddy come and see, daddy hurry do, Theres someone in a pretty dress, she are grown up like you, wont you tell me why?
Come away Melinda come in and close the door, That someone is your mommy you had before the war...
Daddy daddy, tell me if you can. Why cant things be the way they where before the war began?"-Come Away Melinda, I prefer it performed by Uriah Heep. That song is a heartache.
