Nope, none thought he was asian. It's not like he wasn't at AGDQ last year and that he has pictures of himself on twitter...

http://speeddemosarchive.com/lang/rules_en.html I think part of it is that loading a save file isn't permitted in single segment (beat it in one sitting) "unless required to progress" which is pretty vague and I'll admit I don't know exactly how they interpret it, but I believe it disallows saving, resetting, and then loading the file (to try to make splicing harder). Unfortunately in a lot of games, doing exactly that can save time - especially if you can save in one spot but loading the file puts you somewhere else: a save warp. A lot of runners have started doing "RTA" or Real Time Attack... which is basically a single segment that allows resetting or anything else to get the fastest time. A lot of runners stream on twitch as well nowadays (nobody streamed with SDA started, so often the only footage they had to go on in the early days for a game was the submission), which makes cheating easier to spot as well as making it obvious if they have the skill level to have done the submitted run. RTA also tracks the speed of the run in real time (never would've guessed, I know). Some games (depends on the community of that particular game in many cases) track records off of the ingame timer for some reason. The ingame timer is often paused at various times like in menus for a lot of games, so a faster ingame time could actually be much slower in real time. Any further issues that people may have, I wouldn't know. I don't follow the verification portion of SDA too closely, and certainly not any drama. Above would be my best guess at the problem some people have with SDA. Uyama probably gets hate because he's been in a position to change some of the above. The Dictator title sounds like it was a result of him trying to maintain a certain level of quality and others disagreed. Anybody that sees him stream knows he's a pretty cool guy. And yeah, as SDA is basically fans and volunteers, they can only verify something as fast as they have people willing to verify it. Obscure games can take forever as a result. Not like they're getting paid to put runs up, it's all a labor of love.

But yeah you've got this pretty right.
