Here : http://tehurn.com/frankerz/

I'm kidding, here you go : http://twitchtvfaces.com/frankerz.html

It has pretty much been adopted by speedrunners chats.

There's a few runners that when they have a "Serious Time" moment they ask the chat to spam FrankerZ for good luck.

Much chat trolling and spam revolves around the almighty FrankerZ. As seen above.

The videos on SDA are rarely world records, they're just high quality speedrun videos. Before the magic issue he was about a minute behind the record, even as ridiculously good the run was to that point.

And, to the above, the hookshot does give invincibility frames. As long as the hookshot is extended you're invulnerable.

Also, even if the run is a world record compared to the previous run, it is possible to not be accepted based on poor execution.

This is the reason SDA gives, but really it's because SDA uses an outdated approval system that's subject to the whim of a small handful of reviewers. Siglemic spent months grinding out SM64 to get a ridiculously optimized 1:44 lSM64 run, but SDA still lists his 1:48 run from a year and a half ago which is just lol

Can't fault SDA for Sig not submitting an updated run yet. Often runners will submit their run once they're finished with the game. Same reason that cosmo doesn't have any runs on the site, and a number of people who race games don't have submitted runs, because they plan to continue playing and obsoleting their old runs.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that a lot of top speedrunners don't take SDA seriously anymore. I won't name names but some of them have very strong opinions on the matter

e: And I mean really strong. And also about Mike

Best I could find was this

You have been labeled as the "Dictator" of SDA. When and why did that start?

That was started by a guy named SpiderWaffle who isn't with (SDA) any more, not so sadly, unlike DJGrenola. He labeled me as a dictator three or four years ago, and the label has stuck. I was making some ruling for scripts about PC games, and he said "that was unfair, and you are a dictator, and you are running this site into the ground" and the label just stuck. I am fine with it, I don't really care, and I think it is all good.

A little off topic, but I've counted 3 potshots so far against a guy who isn't present to defend himself, and that's a poor way to handle things.

So rereading the comments and I still see none that are taking any stabs at Mike. All of them basically say the same thing: A lot of people in the speedrunning community do not like him. That is all. If he was here to defend himself, what would he say?

A little off topic, but I've counted 3 potshots so far against a guy who isn't present to defend himself, and that's a poor way to handle things.

I'm not sure it's the same thing as harsh moderating really. It's more fundamental than that, as it pertains to the rules and requirements for speedruns and world records. TL doesn't really utilize the same discretion, they just go with what is already well accepted for various things, as evident from the main SC database (Liquipedia) being a wiki. I imagine if SDA had the same user-submitted/verified formula, you'd actually start to see a lot more universally accepted WRs, as well as categorizations and terms.

A dictator-style doesn't work all that well as every game community has their own quirks and ideas about what goes into their games. Since they don't have that kind of fine control and have to deal with what is apparently a much more oppressive submit and review process for WRs, it's just not worth their time and they end up looking to other sites and locations to house their individual scenes.

Also, even if the run is a world record compared to the previous run, it is possible to not be accepted based on poor execution.

This is the reason SDA gives for the lack of WRs, but really it's because SDA uses an outdated approval system that's subject to the whims of a small handful of reviewers. Or you know, you could be accurate.

Siglemic doesn't have an updated run on site because he hasn't bothered to submit runs and SDA doesn't review runs unless they're submitted to them. The same with Cosmo - both guys always want to go better, so neither submits to SDA because they're still trying to obsolete the very runs they'd be sending in.

SDA's reviewing process requires that a run be submitted to them and then reviewed by multiple people (usually at least 3 reviewers are necessary). The reviewers also need to have played the game. For really popular games or runs that are really popularly streamed, an SDA run can actually be verified and put up fast - FunkDoc's recent Castlevania 3 runs are an example. For more esoteric games or longer ones which people haven't seen, it can take a WHILE longer.

There is some good debate over whether SDA should change the process and how. It IS good for those games that are not popular (in which case, cheating is still possible) so that you get good valid runs of games posted somewhere. For those games, they won't have a site like ZeldaSpeedRuns to list WRs and where to find them, so SDA is a good resource.

And even for popular games, SDA is still useful as an intro to the tricks involved in those runs.

SDA probably should try and put something up on their pages when a run is or isn't a WR and they know about it, but they have a lot of games to keep track of.

Didn't know OoT had a super swim. Looks significantly easier to do than in Wind Waker.
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

Back onto the topic of this run, this is the first time I'm actually watching a runneyguy run (and first time I'm watching a 100% run as well), this guy is amazingly consistent at so many of these tricks. Really awesome to watch.
