The key to Trump's support. Trump's main support comes in the form of the immigration vote. It's always the first thing they mention. Deep down, these people want less Mexicans and Muslims around. Let's not beat around the bush with abstract cultural decline arguments.

And yes, alt right white nationalism is at the core of Trump's support, and perhaps policy, considering the position of Bannon. Bannon's stated world view is one of protecting the supremacy of Judeo-Christian culture.

That's about as likely as white nationalists going away if Clinton had won-that is to say, there's no way it will possibly happen.
I do find it fascinating how people crow over what the election did to "SJW" while simultaneously saying the Democrats were foolish to ignore white working-class voters and shut people out of the system as if there's no contradiction there (unless we're purely talking geographic location distribution and EC expediency).
Especially when those same people thought Trump would end up with a popular vote victory...

First thing you said was immigration. It always comes back to that.

And yes, some of what they say is harmful and unproductive, but on balance, I find them far less threatening than SJW's overall given the huge disparity in relative influence.

Again, my perspective is that there are lots of reasons why Hillary lost, the absence of any one of which may have resulted in her victory.

I'd disagree on a practical level; I think "anti-SJW's" and SJW's tend to be a reaction to each other in part, and they will not help in taking out SJW, but will in fact increase them.
though I suppose it's more likely that both simply represent the tail ends of a Normal distribution, which will always exist.

Who got the president they wanted?
I will take SJW over alt right any day. SJW needs to be reigned in and watched over to be sure so it doesn't get out of control but letting the alt right type ideology get out of control has led to some of the worst crimes against humanity.
Your just assuming they will never get to the point of being really relevant so only the SJW are worth shitting on. Which is how Trump's campaign started "will never be relevant".

The extremely few people I've heard identify themselves as SJWs were generally quite rational, much more than you would expect given the rep they get. I have no doubt that you can dig up a few stories where some of them do something irrational but most of the stories I've seen regarding universities are wilfully amplified to create a controversy. The notable exception is refusing right-wing speakers, that is actually fairly bad.

as a practical note, iirc alt-right, to some extent, self-identify that way; and the use of the term came mostly from their self-identification. SJW is mostly used as a pejorative, and does not seem to be self-identified much, though a few have adopted it. Do others have different recollection of the histories of the terms' usages?

I don't really see who would be a SJW in this thread, who am I missing? I would have said I'm one of the closest.
You are correct on the history zlefin.

So a man deemed to racist to be a judge in the 80's is now the Attorney General. Expect hate crimes against Whites to surge, and voter protections to be a thing of the past.

But the real problem is that the SJW's rhetoric poisons political discourse overall by seeping into the arguments of the left, even if those the various persons on the left making those argument wouldn't consider themselves to be SJWs. We just saw a classic example of this a few posts ago:

None of the conservative posters around here are remotely surprised at Doodsmack's inability to accept or recognize that people who want to stop "fix immigration" -- or even stop illegal immigration -- have reasons for doing so that are unrelated to race. So instead of having a discussion on the merits of proper policy for the country, the discussion has devolved to crass identity politics. This is why I rail against SJWs and the regressive left.

There are a fair few people who instantaneously assume racist context for any concerns about any issues of immigrants, culture, or any similar issues. Certain ones assume that a broad range of positions are really just closet racism and worthy of instant dismissal. I don't like to name names but if you care you know which posters broadly fit that description. Or if you don't, then you probably don't disagree with SJW-ing either.

There's a few people on my FB still blaming sexism for Clinton losing.
She. Lost. Wisconsin.

I blame Henry Kissinger not endorsing Clinton for her loss. As far as I'm concerned that's as valid a reason for her loss as sexism, Hitler, Darth Vader, Bernie Bros, Comey, Assange, the evil Russians, or racists. They all fail to accept that the candidate herself opened the door to this loss by being terrible.
I kind of want to make a joke about a perceived racist succeeding two black AGs ina row and being held up as someone who will clean up after them. But I can't imagine any such joke would be in good taste.
