Norfolk is a really strange island, population of almost 2k its almost impossible to be able to move and live there. (beacuse they rarely allow it - not because you can't physically do it)
Also, back however many years ago they had a refferendum over there, on whether to allow telephones on the island, i think something like 90% voted against it (back in the 70s i think), and they only got them early 90's i think.
Oh found a source "Norfolk Island has had a form of mobile service with trunking radio phones since the early 1990s that were introduced for emergency services."
For over 150 years they had no murders (which is an awesome record!) until early 2000 a woman was killed and it was never solved, then 2 years later the mayor was killed by his son.
Anyway the original reason to post this (before i decided that you lot all sucked and wouldn't read it without some background info!) Someone was finally arrested over the other murder.

A MAN has been arrested over the murder of Sydney woman Janelle Patton on Norfolk Island, federal police said today.
The 28-year-old New Zealand man was arrested at a home near the town of Nelson, on the New Zealand South Island this afternoon, almost four years after Ms Patton's body was found on Norfolk Island.
The arrest, carried out by New Zealand police, resulted from a recent breakthrough in the case, Australian Federal Police (AFP) said.
Ms Patton's body was found at the Cockpit Waterfall Reserve on the northern coast of Norfolk Island on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2002.
AFP Detective Sergeant Bob Peters led the investigation, which included a mass fingerprinting campaign, and led to a coronial inquiry on the island in 2004.
The inquiry named 16 people of interest but found there was insufficient evidence to charge any of them with the crime.

The AFP said that after the recent breakthrough, Sgt Peters had travelled to Norfolk Island last week to obtain a warrant for the extradition of the New Zealand man.
New Zealand police conveyed the man to Nelson police station where he is being held.
He is expected to appear in Nelson Court tomorrow where police will seek his formal extradition to Norfolk Island to face charges in relation to the murder.
Ms Patton's death was the first recorded murder on Norfolk in 150 years.
Norfolk Island is awesome, its right up there, with snags, beer, and kangaroos.
