So pretty much today I am walking down the street, and I needed to make a super important phone call, but my phone JUST died. Not knowing the number by heart, I'm already thinking how annoying this will be, having to spend maybe 90 minutes via public transit to meet a person and tell them this, until a nice gentleman at the bus station offers me to use his Mobile phone charger. Woo what a save, charger my phone, got my contact, gave the person a call, everything ended well!
So pretty much this inspired this thread. Our hobbies I feel are more centralized than us compared to the rest of society, so I'm making a thread here, if you have any items at home that many people probably don't have, and they in some way make your life better or easier, share them! Whether it's something as simple as a neat potato cutter, or a puppy to pick up girls. Ideally keep the price range of the items under $2000~... And don't advertise your own products either.
So just post an item, give a brief description, a link to where it can be purchased, and tell us whatever you feel we should know.
I am hoping this thread will better our general choice of purchase, and instead of spending $10 on an overpriced lunch each day, something handy where people can receive suggestions on useful, or fun items with a very niche role can be found for us; the regular TLer.
My contributions, maybe lame... But what I find totally useful.
USB Battery Charger

I can't even begin to explain how nice it is, to just be able to be sitting on your couch/bed and if you need batteries recharged, in a couple seconds you can have them charging right in front of you. You will save tons of money not buying one-use batteries, and the convenience, and always seeing it right in front of you keeps reminds you how easy it charge your batteries and reminds you to always buy the rechargeable ones. Hard to explain but super useful.
Pocket Phone Breathalyzer

This one is a little bit pricey, I bought mine from work for $19.99, but either way, super nice and handy to have. Besides the obvious testing whether you are good to drive or not, it's super small and sleek design is just fun. If you're with friends you can quickly become the center of attention when people want to see who the most drunk is, racing with your friend to 0.15% bal or whatever you decide. Surprisingly, I've never gotten any really wonky numbers, fun little gadget with an actual use, and like the article says, use it on your kids (;
Anyone have anything to share themselves?

You would be surprised about how easy it makes spanking zerglings. 33% less spankage

If this thread evolves I could see it making for some really neat birthdya/christmas presents. Too bad I can't think of anything offhand :/

Oh, the USB thing made me think of this:
USB A/C and fan. Pretty cool and right now it's really cheap. Just add water, perhaps from your company cooler. Though if your company is too cheap for air conditioning I could imagine it being too cheap for a water cooler as well.

Pretty much anything on this website falls under cool things to buy.

Not sure if too much of it is particularly useful, but it's all pretty awesome stuff

The only think i can think of is one of those toilets that cleans you ass haha.

Leatherman Multi-tool for pretty much anything spontaneous that might occur that needs a good piece of metal messing with it.
Water Filter or Iodine Tabs If ever you get lost somewhere and find a water source. It'll be a lot better off cleaning that water up with either or filter or iodine, or else you might be in for a fun filled adventure with your thirst quenched and a bad case of the mudbutt.
Camelbak Range from 1 to 2 quarts worth of water... basically half a days necessity of the stuff on your back like a backpack. Great for any hike, ANY HIKE.
Mole Skin Great for blister prevention. They also work after-the-fact, but it's best just to put this stuff on when you start feeling the hot spots. A cheaper alternative is just to grab a roll of duct tape and slap that onto hot spots for a long hike.
A Decent Lighter No point in having one if it can't light in the worst of times. I happen to carry around a clipper lighter, because they're cheap - refillable - and light in anything without hurricane winds blowing into it. A lot of people like zippo, maybe go with that.

Your death is on the clock from dehydration if you drink any tainted water that results in a "mudbutt" xD It seems its a small thing people tend to forget.
on topic: one of those flashlights that recharge by rotating a lever that also have a compass and radio fm capabilities. One of the greatest items to have imo (especially for hiking )
edit: Regarding to OP contribution- That is pretty cool. I am going have to grab me one of those.

Lol the first thing in the OP made me think of this.

I recently bought a breathalyzer for $26 only to find out it's complete shit. Basically, if you take a shot of vodka (completely sober) and blow into it immediately after, it think you're at least .25 or something crazy. But if you've been hammered for a while and haven't drank in say 45 minutes, it'll give you like a 0.05.

This is a Husky Workhorse or any similar folding/collapising/compact workbench. $40 or so from Home Depot. I bought mine 7 or 8 years ago.. and Home Depot is still selling the virtually the exact same design. So there must be something right with it.
I pull it out and use it for just about anything/everything in the garage. Get a couple scrap pieces of plywood or even luan to use as a surface if you are cutting stuff on top of it, or you can make a mounting base for a small miter saw.
I've let electricians, plasterers, roofers, and a guy doing tilework all use it and they said they all wish they had one.

when someone talks about USB and useful devices, the first thing that comes to mind is this:![[image loading]](http://www.cdrking.com/apanel/modules/products/images/large/9091_1.jpg) (It's a USB tranquility fountain)
On a serious note, I find those universal plug-adaptor things very handy.

A fuckin' tape measure. Measure walls, doors, posters, furniture, your dick, your new girlfriend's bust size. The tape measure does it all!

Then I realized that it kept adding new items when you get near the bottom. Too many cool things.

That site is awesome indeed, thx for linking it. Some of the items look realy expensive though, and feel way and way overpriced, like can be made for less then 1/10th of the selling price.
