Ya, a lot of people don't like beer at first (or ever). The drink you mentioned was made using amaretto, but you probably want to stick to simpler stuff at first. Rum+coke, vodka/cranberry, vodka/redbull or a screwdriver (vodka/orange juice) mostly just taste like their mixer (especially if you order them at a bar), so give one of those a try first. (this is assuming you are legal drinking age in your country obviously). ya i live in Canada
my sister got married in November at a pretty upscale hotel (some people actually saw Conan there at the elevator but sadly i wasnt there but they had pics) i tried a couple rum and cokes and a couple vodka and OJs didnt really like it but this thread has inspired me to keep trying and not give up

One major problem is that 95% of what people drink at parties and what is served at bars is low quality stuff, mass produced to get people trashed. JackDaniels, Jose Cuervo, Smirinoff, and Captian Morgans are CRAP. A good whisky or tequila wont have that big ethanol aroma/flavour that makes people cringe after a shot. Get onto google and read some reviews. Theres far more options out there than most people realize. A bit of research and a couple extra bucks can get you something light years ahead in quality. However! It took me a long time to start enjoying the taste of alcohol. Some people never aquire a taste for it. Dont try to rush it. You should reconsider Jack Daniels. If you don't like whiskey, that's alright, but there's nothing wrong with Jack. It's nowhere near as good as a lot of stuff in the whiskey thread, but you could do a lot worse.
Also, if you're mix vodka, you're dumb to buy anything more expensive than Smirnoff. It's not perfect, but it's distilled enough to be relatively flavorless.

As a college student, it's always cheap beer to start, switching to cheap whiskey and coke after a while. I find Crown Royal too sweet, so at most bars that leaves Wiser's or Alberta Premium.

Haha sorry man, dont mean to step on any toes but I gotta be honest: I think JD is really terrible. Furthermore I think its a big reason most people dont like whisky, because thats the flavour that they associate with it.
And to clarify, I LOVE whisky. I have a post on the last page listing some of my favorites. Anyways, about JD:
I wouldnt have thought it possible to water down every flavour EXCEPT the ethanol, but the folks at jack somehow make that happen. The single barrel/Gentleman Jack bottlings are decent, but I would never serve the standard old no7 stuff to a guest, nor drink it myself. End rant.

I love chocolate milk, but that has to taste just awful. The whole idea of alcohol mixed with "milk" makes me sick to my stomach.

Hey, take it easy man, this is an alcohol only thread

I like busch light, and if I'm feeling fancy I really enjoy absurdly dark ales. Like syrupy dark ales. It's kind of gross haha. My favorite liquor drink is gin and tonic by a long shot. I love the crisp and bitter taste it has with a hint of citrusy lime.

Been drinking some cider recently.

Did you really just start an alcohol thread with a picture of bud light?

Their spring time cider tastes like pancakes. Glorious pancakes cover in maple syrup. You're more likely to make yourself sick form the sugar before you get drunk though.

it never gets better. beer always tastes bad. its just cheap and all your friends drink it. its the only reason any1 drinks beer at least in my opinion

I have this weird dream that one day society will evolve above different substance and drug abuses like alcohol and cigarettes.

Yuengling is my favorite beer hands down. America's oldest brewery, baby!
Throw away that Bud Platinum, amigo.

Sweet ciders above all. Fizz, Koppaberg & Kiss. Spiced & dark rums with ginger ale / energy drinks are are delicious as well And tequila shots, don't really care about brands here.

so a thread was made to discuss it
actually i have a very on topic question to ask, im not a heavy drinker at all pretty much only time ive had anything to drink was when my sister took me out on my 19th birthday to do some bar hopping
my first beer tasted terrible but my sister and brother assured me that everyone hated it at first and urged me to keep drinking
i didnt drink that much had a couple bottles of beer, shot of tequila a couple shots taht i think was called a crispy crunch and a couple glasses of a drink i cant remember exactly what was, sounded like emmeretal sour or something like that but it never seemed to taste any better, since then ive had a couple bottle of beers but it still tasted bad and whatever drink theyve gotten me it always tasted bad even a drink at montanas called the smore that tasted bad but my sister insisted she couldnt even taste the alchohol in it
should i attempt to stick in it and hope i get used to it or am i just really sensitive to the taste and not going to get better? Well. I have been 'trying out' beer for about 10 years now - still think it tastes absolutely vile. Now that I think of it, very few of my friends actually like it, so it's clearly not for everyone. You certainly shouldn't force yourself to drink something out of peer pressure.

In other words, I have no standards or taste and I don't "take pride" in what I drink, the only reason I consume it is for the effects. I usually just mix 3 shots of bacardi rum with a can of mountain dew. Go easy on me hipsters I could understand until here.
