What class of MicroSD is recommended for what will basically just be for music storage? Class 4 seems fine to me but that's a complete guess. And is there any particular type of MicroSD that the S3 is compatible with? As for cases, I'm waiting for the Samsung flip cover to become less than $40 (which will happen eventually... right?). Oh, and one more thing; is a screen cover recommended? Does it offer any benefits other than protection from scratches and such, like less smudging? Thanks in advance!

How did you get the phone on AT&T? I thought the shipping was delayed until June 28th.. I'm so jealous T_T

Together with the S3 they are all about as good (on average, some are better at some things, others at other things), but the OneX and the S are way cheaper, so better value for money ![]()

Oh, and one more thing; is a screen cover recommended? Does it offer any benefits other than protection from scratches and such, like less smudging? Thanks in advance! AFAIK, class 4 is good enough. Getting the new sandisk extreme pro microsd thing for example, is should be absolutely useless because your phone doesn't even support speeds that fast; thus having an extremely fast microsd card will be wasted money. I think all microsd cards should work, and if you look on amazon there's a class 4 32 GB one I found that also mentioned that it was compatible with smartphones but I think they should all work. A screen cover...eh hard to say. It's been mentioned before but SGS3 has gorilla glass 2, which is a very nice display glass and is very hard to break/scratch. It's very scratch resistant but only resistant, almost nothing is 100% all of the time scratch proof. Your call I guess. Personally I hate the feel of most screen protectors and they always get bubbles/tiny particles trapped between the protector and the display which grinds my gears, but for others it's worth it and they can get a better fit. Most of the people here will tell you to get SGS3~~ ![]() The display on the One X is super LCD and doesn't have something called a pentile matrix, which is basically how the pixels are arranged. It's pretty difficult to tell with your naked eye but the display on the One X is significantly sharper and it becomes very obvious on a macro lens. Overall it's close though. Build quality--I've read some bad things about SGS3 breaking easily if dropped, but it was a rather terrible drop test to be sure. HOWEVER, there also have been reports of the One X's shell scratching up kind of easily. Finally, appearance is a subjective thing, but almost everyone prefers how the One X looks. SGS3 has sort of a cheap plasticky appearance because of the way it was built whereas the One X has a very solid, beautiful design. People have drawn comparisons between a lamborghini and a ford focus (and the ford focus comparison may even be a bit kind). With regard to pricing, in the US they're pretty much the same both on contract and off, iirc o_o could be wrong though? Otherwise, though, I prefer the SGS3 much more because almost everything else about it (camera; software features like picture-in-picture, the turning-off-display-when-you're-not-looking-at-it feature for lack of a better description, really really high speed transfer rates between it and other SGS3 devices because of something called S-beam; battery--which is also removable, pretty big deal because if your phone dies you can pop it out OR you can just have an extra battery; and I think it has a pretty good sound card as well; among other details), already preordered it and can't wait ^^ On June 23 2012 22:13 1tym wrote: Has anybody used both Galaxy Note and Galaxy S3? How do they compare in terms of performance and useability? I personally don't mind big screens so I'm having to chosse between the two. If you're thinking about getting the galaxy note, the galaxy note 2 will be released this fall so that's the one you really should be comparing to SGS3 and the one you should be considering instead of the original note. As it is now, I'd say SGS3 is better lol, it has some crazy hardware and features. And yeah urghhhh hope NA devs step it up or something because I'm forced to get the S4 variant of the SGS3 on verizon, hope there will be a lot of ROMs that support it T___T On June 23 2012 22:44 disciple wrote: I think the Galaxy Nexus is hands the best value for money right now at around 350$. The design is awesome, it feels incredibly special due to the stock ICS, its guaranteed to get the Jelly Bean first, knows 85% of the S3 tricks and has basically the same screen. And I think very few ppl have it so it stands out. I wouldn't say hands-down the best value but it's very easily arguably so. Off-contract maybe, but on-contract the phones' prices are a drop in the bucket compared to the contracts anyway. You can get stock ICS on any of these newer phones with minimal effort, the delay in getting Jelly Bean won't be more than maybe a month or two at most, most of the S3 tricks (I just took the liberty of comparing them in general even though I think you mean software tricks) it knows are somewhat inferior:
and that's all I could come up with. Here's an image comparison of the two phones' displays. They're under macro lenses and the superiority of one display isn't that clear, but overall the colors appear to be brighter, truer, and just more polished in general according to some reviews etc. Actually seeing it for him/herself, one might disagree though. + Show Spoiler [SGS3 vs Gnex] + ![]() Also, a One X vs SGS3 comparison: + Show Spoiler [SGS3 vs HTC One X] + ![]() As always touchwiz is (imho) visual herpes though there have been some improvements I guess :X

And I think very few ppl have it so it stands out. When I bought my Galaxy S2 back in February, the main competitor for it was the Galaxy Nexus. I was sorely tempted to go for the Nexus but in the end I chose the S2 because even though the Nexus will get the software updates first, etc etc, it had quite a few drawbacks as well. Being more expensive than the S2 as well as not having an external SD card slot are two of the drawbacks that immediately come to mind.

I have SGS2 but had a chance to play with the Nexus for a couple of days, I really cant say the quality of the photos the Nexus makes is any worse, actually I find the low light pics being better quality than the sgs2. and the sgs 3 sensor is the same as the one in the iphone, the software is better but imo the Nexus has the most camera you will ever need for the things you gonna take picture of with a phone. I'm not saying gnex has a horrible camera, nor am I saying that megapixels are everything. There's a 13 MP camera (think it was an xperia or an LG device?) whose camera really was quite horrible. The SGS3 is comparable to the 4s camera but imho it's better. Dang it, there was a flickr album or some sort of gallery I saw months and months ago, comparing the S2, gnex, and 4s cameras. S2 and 4s were actually comparable but the gnex was significantly worse, especially macro and low-light. I can't believe I can't find the gallery though...sorry :/ I did post a pic a few pages back, 4s vs SGS3 camera pics: ![]() But yeah, gnex camera is by no means bad at all. SGS3 just has an insane camera, and it can almost replace a point-and-shoot.

For a long time, I've looked at Samsung's OLED screens and swore the whites and greys were off compared to high end LCD screens like the iPhone 4 and HTC One X. Thankfully, Anandtech actually checks the displays for stuff beyond luminescence and black depth. If you look at the Samsung SG3's gamma graph, you can see that the curve is nuts and isn't remotely stable. Its nice for a device like the Playstation Vita but for a smartphone, I'm not convinced.

Blue subpixel degradation shouldn't be as much of an issue I think because nowadays people switch phones so quickly to get the next super popular device etc. Burn-in is a problem I suppose, though I don't think it has ever been a very big issue on Samsung's smartphones afaik. But you know more about this than I obviously, I don't even understand the anandtech graph at all lol.

I was using the galaxy nexus before and the motorola atrix before that and it's way better than these two wich we're the best in their time imo. The screen looks better than the Gnexus especially the whites and the camera is world ahead... I even suprise myself loving touchwiz and I've never been a fan of UI of any kind I usually prefer pure android feeling, but this version of touchwiz is really well done and fluid (would be hard not to be on a quad core thought...) If you're in America like me, I would suggest you to import the quad core version from europe as the US version is dual core, yes it does have 2gigs of ram, but really, it's useless.... LTE is nice but still....

Ya class 4 is best for phones from what I have seen and SanDisk is known for having best speeds at 32gb at least (I don't know about the new SanDisk Pro that Aerisky mentioned). As for a screen cover, do not decide until you have checked out the ZAGG invisible shields. Might be a little pricey but worth it imo (and has a lifetime warranty).

The reason is simply because Nvidia wont release their drivers. The Snapdragons are better in that regard, but still far away from other competitors.
