One X is generally superior to One S. Unless you specifically would like to get a smaller phone as Corvi did, in which case it's still a heck of a phone.
In my opinion it's unproductive debating back and forth about which phone is better; like a lot of things in this world, yes, one phone can specifically benchmark better here and there or have better specs here and there, etc, but there are numerous features that don't imply a clear-cut winner. There are some [intelligent, mind you] tech forums out there that absolutely love the One X and put it above SGSIII easily (iirc most Verge members really love the One X =__=), and there are others that prefer the SGSIII of course. And so it follows that there are a lot of people, in general, who like either one because it fits them much better. It's hard to say in no uncertain terms which phone is "best" unless one completely blows the other out of the water.
That being said, I look forward to get the SGSIII because it has more features that I want, and I don't particularly care about aesthetics (and honestly I don't think it looks *that* bad based on unboxings, pictures, etc) hehe

Just got my S3!! Its awesomeeee. So light its unreal, i thought with its size its going weight a bit, and after looking at the weight i was still pessimistic, but wow. Its feather light! Nice. Looks so cool and runs super fast. Great upgrade :D

Got mine yesterday, alrdy freaking love it. I was a bit worried about the size, but if you don´t have really small hands, it´s no problem at all. And the overall size isn´t that much bigger than the S2. Had a Iphone before, never apple again...the screen of that thing is almost as big as the whole iphone and the speed is not even comparable. TL:DR: LOVE IT!

OMG. Just got mine, and wow... I saw it before, but this screen.... It blows my mind :O

Hmm yeah I'm thinking of sitting the S3 out and waiting for the possible S4... I had a play with a demo model of the S3 in my local store, and while I am impressed, it hasn't impressed me enough to warrant replacing my S2.

Thinking of maybe getting one, can upgrade my iPhone 4 for free... then again, I've bought apps etc on my iPhone which it will suck to lose.

i've had the S3 for over a week now. So far, i'm LOVING it! but then again maybe the overreaction is because i switched over from a blackberry.

My body is sooo ready to change from shitty iphone3gs to Galaxy S3.

If you had a iPad I'd agree with that since you can buy apps for both at the same time, but I don't think having a mac should impact your decision at all.

I am getting my first smartphone rahter soon,. Would S3 be overkill slash somewhat overwhelming to use? Is it worth the cost?

You have to weigh the issues with the OS. Here are the things that I know. There could be more. Android: -HUGE customization abilities -app store is ok -prone to malware
iPhone: -okay customization -huge app store -great security -NO FLASH SUPPORT (although, this is slowly becoming a non-issue with sites going to html5 and such)
Windows: -great security -tiny to non-existent app store

On June 16 2012 08:08 krndandaman wrote: how would you guys compare iphone4s and sgs3 cameras?
thats kind of important for me because my phone will be my main camera... all i need is something that takes great pictures of people and is easy to take selca's (self camera shots) with. The difference should be negligible. They both have fantastic cameras. Obviously not as good as an actual legitimate camera, but as cell phones go, they're both very good. In terms of selca's, SGSIII is probably preferable because its front-facing camera shoots at 1.9 megapixels while that of the 4S shoots at 0.3 MP. Megapixels are no indicator of camera quality, but there is a very large disparity in resolution between the cameras of SGSIII and 4S.
4S does have a dedicated camera button personally I don't really care about a physical camera button. Google is your friend--you usually can find all sorts of info online
Here's a comparison from a reddit page for instance:

@Ercster: people commonly say that Android has poor security, but in all honesty, I cannot understand how it's easy to get malware on your phone. One has to install an application and agree to all of its permissions. For one, one should not be downloading random applications--just using common sense (few downloads, crap ratings, etc in the google play store; not downloading individual apks from random websites), one can avoid pretty much all of these issues. Security programs like Lookout are almost completely unnecessary. Just don't download and install random crap. Dunno, could be wrong because somehow I hear a few stories and programs like Lookout get tons of users, but afaik the only way to get malware on your phone is to install shady apks (for those of you who don't know, apk is the file format for distributing and installing android apps). YES the google play store is sort of a wild west in terms of security, but NO you shouldn't go running around downloading random apps anyway.
The app store is the one big thing that iOS definitely holds over Android though. Some other pros and cons are iOS's better usability (though personally I think Android is very easy to use) and the fact that Android allows you choice not only in software but in hardware. Also, I'm just going to say that while a lot of people jailbreak iOS to install apps for free, you don't *ahem* have to root your phone to so with Android (though rooting opens the way for massive customization). Conversely installing apks not from the store sometimes exposes you to malware but as long as you don't go looking for them in sketchy places, it's still generally safe.
To answer Froadac's question more directly, SGS3 won't be overwhelming. Android ICS is very simple to use and not at all confusing imho. Is it worth the cost is a different question altogether though, considering networks (assuming you live in US). ATT/Verizon are terrible companies who don't even pretend to care about customers, but Sprint's coverage is spotty. The price of the phone itself is a drop in the bucket compared to how much you'll be paying for data. Unless you're going to be on airplane mode (network off) and using wifi for most of the time, you'll be using up significant data. However, it's a great phone in my humble opinion. It may be overkill if you don't plan on gaming/putting some movies/browsing websites etc because it's definitely a top-of-the-line phone.

Hm basically selcas taken with the SGS3 will turn out less pixelated if you decide to stretch them. Also, you have zero shutter lag which basically means that the shutter closes and the picture is taken at pretty much the exact moment you make the action to take the picture.
It can record video in 720p as well, versus the 480p of the 4S camera. I'm searching for SGS3 front pics right now but can't seem to find them >.< The reason your friend's pictures may look really good is that they're shown on the small screen of the phone, so it looks better. Just a guess?
+ Show Spoiler [here's one] + It doesn't look [t]that good perhaps because it's super stretched :P http://www.totallydubbed.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/2012-06-14-18.54.57.jpg

Gonna order Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 since it seems the best buy with what money I have (I excluded all ipads because I hate them). Anyone has it? Anyone know to give me some con's and pro's of it?

Anyone know to give me some con's and pro's of it? In all honesty Apple has the tablet market all but cornered, and for good reason. I dislike Apple myself but I'm an open-minded guy, and honestly the new new iPad is a very good device, albeit pretty expensive.
My opinion is that if you want an Android tablet, you should either wait for the Nexus tab (which is supposed to be <$250, though it's 7" iirc?) or you should get the Transformer Prime (TP). ASUS's Android tablets are really really good. The components of the TP are better than that of the Tab2 (processor, better camera front/back, maybe battery life as long as you're not playing those ridiculously power hungry games, glass used for display, display type). Getting the dock can be very useful as well but it makes it even more expensive. If you really just want a cheap tablet then even rooting a Kindle Fire can be a good option, but all in all if you're on a budget than the cheapest Tab2 isn't bad of course.
Here's a specsheet comparison from phonearena.
