hm, well the S3 has a 2100maH battery (larger than Nexus or S2) with a screen smaller than teh galaxy note, I think this will be able to have quite nice battery life. the Galaxy note has a larger screen and batter (2500mah) and it lasts freaking forever.

I'd rather Samsung focusing on improving battery life. My Galaxy Nexus, idling most of the time, can't even last a day.
This goes for all the other phone vendors!
you have a wakelock if your phone can't last a day simply idling. get "BetterBatteryStats" and see what rogue app is killing your battery.
as for quadcores, im not really sure, but i've handled my friend's HTC One X and that thing is amazingly fast. i thought my S2 was pretty smooth too.. wait until you get your hands on these new quadcore android monsters

So it's a possibility. Chances of a quad core in the US for this phone are slim. what does that even mean? it will come to the US (with a quad-core of course what else could it be?) to GSM networks (ATT). This goes for all the other phone vendors! You answered you own question. They are improving battery life. 4 cores use less power then 2. by 20% or so. read up on how they make those processors if you want to know how it's possible.
It means the quad core Exynos processor is not 4G compatible. The US carriers will likely see the dual core version (Snapdragon S4) instead of any quad core processors. This is the same reason the HTC One X on ATT is dual core instead of quad.

When you talk about screensizes it's not the width. It's the diagonal. 4.8" seems reasonable to me. I'd love this phone. Unfortunately it will be sooooo expensive

I have the Galaxy S II and it does the same thing. I don't really see the need for a quad core processor in a phone yet either.

Like I already said, the US is very likely NOT getting quad core Samsung S3's so it doesn't matter. It also seems the dual core HTC One gets better battery life than the quad. Not sure how the Enyxos compares to the S4 though. Only have comparisons between the Tegra 3 and S4.

3G here is terribly slow on Verizon. I top out at 1mbps. On 4g the minimum speed is about 8mbps. Hardly a useless battery drain. Sure, I'd like a quad core here in the US, but I'll take the best dual core available with LTE over a quad core with no LTE. In real world performance there doesn't appear to be much if any difference between the Tegra 3 and S4 at least.

If the international variant was being released in the US, it would already be up for notification / pre-order but I'm pretty sure it's not.
Good thing Canadian carriers aren't dumb and are actually getting the international variant.

They made a specialised version of the original Galaxy S

So the S3 won't have 4g in the U.S? (If it does, what IS the difference in the US variant?)
Also, what carriers are offering it (in the US) if anybody knows?
|
S3 will have 4G in the US, that's why Snapdragon S4 will be used instead of the Exynos 4.

Yeah, found the answer earlier in the thread but that helps, thanks.

Please tell me it will have a home button, i don't care if it is on the side or something I just want a home button that isnt LED
At least in the US, I'm relatively sure the S3 won't have a physical home button. Apple won some lawsuit a while ago in the US that prevents other phones/devices to have a button because they claim it's a patented design or something like that. Learned this when I was on vacation in HK/Macau with a friend and he wanted to visit a local phone store and see the Nexus and S2 with a button, which doesn't exist in the US. Glad at least other countries are smart enough to ignore Apple's pettiness.

sgs3 is a fucking awesome phone, sd card slot and you can remove the battery unlike the htc phone too bad it is way too big, almost tablet size
guess i will stick with my SGS for a while, if android publisher keeps creating over sized phones, i might replace my SGS with a win8/iphone5 :/
its kinda sad that there is no decent (up to date hardware) 4-4,3" android phones

What material is the case, looks like plastic .. ?

The Incredible 4G is coming out on Verizon this month, but the specs are pretty disappointing. It's a 4 inch phone though. 1.2 Ghz dual core Qualcomm S4.
