Want equality, vote Romney Want more sexism and social injustice, vote Obama This post was "almost funny" until I realized you weren't joking. Though I urge you send a letter to the Romney Campaign suggesting they adopt the slogan, "Vote Romney, after all which party freed the slaves." Is he really serious? I thought SayGen was a lefty, and the post is very over the top... SayGen is to the right of xDaunt. Which is no mean feat ... I'm not left or right, i'm straight up. Pro freedom, personal accountability, economic freedom, liberty, determent military doctrine, flat tax, etc Left is anti freedom. Right is anti freedom. Left has no personal accountability: Bigger goverment, means more corruption/less transparency Right has little personal accountability supporting an upper class beyond the means of growth incentives, allowing billions of dollars to go overseas. Left has no economic freedom. Right is too weak against monopolies/fair competetion policies etc etc both groups/parties suck This election is nothing more than an example of what Lesser of 2 evils is really all about. Leave the flat tax and determent(?) military doctrine out and we might just be able to grab a beer together sometimes, although with less hyperbole.

Want equality, vote Romney Want more sexism and social injustice, vote Obama Wait what, can you explain any of this post to me? And besides, at that point the gop was the liberal party, not its current iteration.
While Party lines shift, sometimes even in large swings- to say that Republicans were 'liberals' just goes to show that you do not know what the word liberal means.

Republicans freed the slaves! It says so on wiki!
|
The reason "binders full of women" is funny, is because it's a completely meaningless answer. Like 90% of Romney's answers in that debate, it says nothing about his actual stances on policies. It's pure fluff.
What I don't get about this election is how Republicans stomach Romney's complete abandonment of the issues and rhetoric that he ran on in the primary? It'd be like Obama running in 2008 based on extending the Bush tax cuts, growing the military, and social conservatism.
Romney has done nothing in the two debates to advocate for conservatism. He's basically just gave a completely meaningless and congenial sales-pitch of himself, while lambasting the President for generally being a failure. He basically is selling himself as a progressive-alternative to Obama, just a Republican by name only who just wants to give the middle-class some tax breaks -- which is all, of course, a complete lie, if we're to believe the Romney who ran in the primaries is the real Romney.
It's very telling that Romney has chosen this strategy, and very telling that the Republicans are all too happy to ride along.
edit: But I guess that's why you guys elected him in the primary, as opposed to a more consistent conservative. In the last debate, a woman asked Romney to explain how different he is from George W. Bush.
Romney was all too happy to answer that question, and explain how different he is from George W. Bush. I imagine Santorum or Gingrich would've given a much different answer to such a loaded question.
Basically conservatives made a concerted choice in Romney to not run on conservatism in 2012, but to simply run as "anti-Obama", which has basically been their M.O. for the past four years anyways.

It just proves the state of affairs in politics today. Both sides vigorously, emotionally defend their candidate, essentially regardless of what they do. I feel comfortable saying that Obama would never go to the extremes of Romney, I have to admit that I would probably still support him if he did.
Civil war II inc, I'm telling ya...

People are more instrested in seeing a runner with their perfered insignia (D) (R) (I) than the actual runner. Who cares what he says. right? Who cares about his record in Mass. right?
Romney is a joke, I don't think he will repeal Obamacare, too easy to steal money from Americans with it and pay back his rich camp. donors.

I could be wrong but I think it's 2042 that African Americans will be the largest ethnic group in USA, however it will be a short reign, 2069 project White-Hispanic will be the largest ethnic group.

Lincoln was a republican.
Republicans are historically state's rights liberals. The only reason we call Democrats liberals today is because of social issues. Even on economic issues Republicans are far more liberal.

No I said it was a typo- go back and reread before posting that libel. I am highly upset about Obamacare. It's anti American to be taxed on the condition of breathing. Never ever ever done before in American history, truly it can now be said that there are 2 inevitable things in life- death and taxes

It's about 2050 when non-hispanic whites will not be a majority race. This isn't news.

Food for thought: even Switzerland have a public healthcare system. IIRC they had heavy debates and a close vote, but years later, nobody would want to go back to the old days.
Even the country that inspired the Founding Fathers and continue to be referred to in every gun control debate can recognize that healthcare is better handled by the government.
