Damn, 124 years... Of course he would rat everyone out that he knew...

The sad part is that hacking a couple of pcs gives you a higher sentence then murder.
Shows what the world has come to.

I hope all of them go to jail, most of these hackers do far more bad than good. Especially groups like anon and lulzec.

I hate how many times he said he "grew up on the streets". Mixed feelings about LulzSec going down. I have been a .....um...... I have followed there exploits closely for a long time. I don't agree with some of what they do, like releasing the names, addresses and all personal info of police, but they were shutting down child porn rings, finding information on them and sending it to the feds, basically doing what the feds wish they could do.
The only way to attack structure is with chaos.

The FBI openly said that the only reason he cooperated is because he didn't want to leave his son without a father while he is in prison.

Glad to see America has it's priorities straight, seems like they take offense to this more so than murder.

It's a direct retaliation against "imposed rule of society" by the government, hence the much harsher- then murder- rap. Hardly worth fighting over, indeed this is all childish, from every angle. Like children who don't get what they want.

In general, less intelligent people are less subtle about how they act, meaning they are usually more prone to get arrested.

I'm not implying anything about wether Sabu is not intelligent or not, I'm merely agreeing with your point that Virus did indeed seem to be smarter...

Lol. Apparently online hacking is the world's dumbest, pointlessly high stakes version of Mafia.

Sabu the detective was lynched!

I know that this is not likely to draw a lot of responses but I'm currently working on my PhD, which will be - generally speaking - about Anonymous: its origin, aims and how it actually changed over time. I'm most interested in it's internal structure. However, since Anonymous ain't a closed, centralized group or organization, I trying to look at it from a different way.

Therefore, I would love someone who is or has been working on or is/was affiliated with any kind of operation in the name of Anonymous. No email/ID has to be provided and even the slightest bit of information would be of good use. I'm not only asking this on the TL forum, but if you feel spoken to, contact me.

PM sent.

lol. in 99.9% of cases it is a concurrent sentence which means time served is equal to the length of the longest term. 124 years would be the sentence if it were consecutive which it WILL NOT be. This is something that also exists in the German legal system.

so NO, america does not consider computer hacking as deserving of a harsher punishment than murder.
typical europeans.

I wouldn't bundle all Europeans into the same group. Sure every country has a strong sense of nationalism amongst it's people, but Germans have the old WW2 axe to grind and despite knowing little about the US justice system he decides to take the 124 years as a standard sentence for computer crimes. I knowing nothing about the German justice system wouldn't even make a statement like his, but rather ask questions rather than take 124 years as fact when anyone with common sense knows that nobody actually goes to jail for that long for computer crimes alone except perhaps in some perverse situations where that time might be needed.

Charges stack and that is a maximum sentence. Please learn a little before the justice system before criticizing it on something you don't have knowledge of.
