Cheats are usually single player based, where you aren't harming anybody but yourself (if you even believe thats true). Most cheats are put directly into the game by the makers themselves, as a way for extra fun. A hack is something developed on the outside or by finding a fault in the game (unintentional by the developers) that purposely is used to give you an advantage. (And is more than often used in multiplayer) | ||

In Diablo 2 I used maphack, pickit, telehack, drophack, autoaim, and a variety of other packet-injection based hacks (mostly custom designed for the purpose of scamming). I also ran a ring of scammers, and we used hacks/exploits along with social engineering through collusion to steal an unbelievable amount of accounts and items. I have never hacked in a competitive game though (never hacked in WoW arena, sc2, CS:1.6/CSS etc). | ||
