If you don't understand the very basics of a game, maphacking can let you see what your opponent is doing without having to guess his moves. I have hacked in every single multiplayer game I ever played, and will continue to do so. Can I smack you over the internet? That is yet another terrible excuse. There are far too many legitimate ways to gain this knowledge without cheating for this to be a viable way of getting better at the game. Some games, like SC2, would be more trouble to "hack" than to play legit and watch the replay afterwards.

Dont get this thread closed, its interesting :D Ehh, they'll never get a rise out of me in an actual game. Probably because I like playing games where hacks do you little good if you are a terrible player. My fondest memory of a hacker was beating a TERRIBLE hacking player in a QL duel. He had auto-aim hack, but that does very little good in QL duels, because even a 100% accurate mg takes forever to kill a 150/200 stacked guy blowing around the map at 200 mph with all weapons. He left the game, raging, calling me a cheater, and saying I was going to get banned, and that he was hacking "to find the cheaters", lol. He was so cute running around lost on ztn without even attempting to strafe jump.

Off-topic: stop making polls with such specific questions. Yes I have hacked before when I was younger, way more than once or twice. Instead of being specific, you could just have easily worded the options as "I have", "Never", and "I do."
On-topic: If you haven't cheated then you're missing a dynamic that you will never understand without cheating. In fact, I cheated in Source for a short period of time and afterwards felt I understood the game and playstyles much better than ever before. I doubt the same would be true in RTS, however.

Never really any "hacks" but I abused some fun glitches in vanilla WoW when I still played that! Some of my favorites:
Best friend played a mage and we discovered that you could cast blink though some instance portals and rather than entering them, you'd end up on the other side and sometimes fall out of the world.
If you walked alllll the way around the Ruins of Lordaeron (the area on top of Undercity) from the outside, we discovered that there was a corner between a cliff wall and the castle wall that, when ran into and repeatedly jumped at, would allow you to climb to the otherwise un-accessible roof of the castle, which was extremely glitchy and had many holes in it; at some points you could jump down into Undercity, falling straight through the ceiling!
I played a Warlock, so once my friend and I reached level 40 and both had mounts (that's right; in my day we didn't get mounts at level 20, you whippersnappers,) we were able to initiate a duel just outside of the Ruins of Lordaeron (duels couldn't be started inside,) both hop on our mounts and ride into a specific part of the ruins, fighting the timer on the duel clock so that it wouldn't end before we got there, and then my friend would run into a wall while I cast fear on his character; it would force the character to run through the wall and end up in an untextured area presumably inside the wall of the castle. You could then re-enter at one point and the character's legs would appear sunk into the ground up to his or her knees!
We were young at the time and thought to abuse the system; we charged people gold for "magic tricks," i.e., the right to watch us abuse these glitches, or for an increased fee, to have us teach them to them instead
What fun that game was...
